Default Empower and empower healing question.

What is the difference on healing spells between the empower metamagic feat and the empower healing metamagic feat?

This gets asked every week, but...

Empower Healing works only on healing spells, and increases their effectiveness by 50%.

Empower on the other hand affects every spells except for Heal and Mass Heal, so it will improved your Blade Barriers and Cometfalls, ect.

One more difference when it comes to FVS specifically; FVS can take meta SP reducing enhancement for Empower, but not for Empower healing.

    Yes.

For this reason (if you can afford all of the enhancements), Empower is more cost effective than Empower Healing.

The only thing it doesn't affect is Heal/Mass Heal, but often times Empowering that would be overhealing.

Heal and Mass Heal don't heal for nearly enough at level 20 without Empower Healing.

For that reason, even if you use Empower Spell to level up (it's better from 12-19), expect to do the feat swap to Empower Healing once you are seriously running Epics.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

I'm toying with the idea of dumping Greater Spell Focus: Evocation (or maybe Extend but leaning toward the Focus) to have both Empower and Empower Healing. I do quite a bit of blade barrier use and Empower helps a ton there (I don't always run Maximize but I ALWAYS run Empower thanks to the SP reductions fvs get there). Not to mention if you have all 3 running (Empower/Empower Healing/Maximize) and chug Superior Ardor 1+ pots (and took all 4 enhancements for healing amp) you'd be getting capstone heals of 38-83 (60.5 average) instead of 32-69 (50.5 average). Basically an increase of about 20% and given the number of people out there right now running healing amp builds that's actually not an insignificant consideration.

Yep that's what I did. BB DC is sitting around ~35 anyway. My final build will be around 37 or 38 I think if I got my math right.

Empower healing is a must have if you're raid healing a lot, or running epics.

Heal and Mass Heal don't heal for nearly enough at level 20 without Empower Healing.
Really? Never been an issue for me. They hit for a lot, and they crit all the time, so even those WF barbs will get topped off most of the time without using Empower Healing.

Waste of 10 SP and a very precious feat selection.

I disagree. Aside from WF barbs with poor healing amp Heal works just fine without Empower Healing. While healing elite ToD, epic VON or epic DQ I've never once thought "I really need Empower Healing for this." It's a great feat but FvS are feat starved. I'm quite happy with Greater Evocation Focus, Maximize, Empower, Extend, Heighten, Toughness and Quicken. No one dies from the lack of Empower Healing on my raids.
