Default Feat Change - Skill Focus

Would be nice if there was a Feat (or series of feats) that allowed a character to take a "cross-class skill" as an in class skill.

This doesn't nessecarily have to change the current Feats "Skill Focus:xxxx" it could be in addition to as in Feat:Skill xxx "For purposes of spending Skill Points while advancing the xxx is now considered an in class skill."

For example a Paladin could take the "Feat:Skill Intimidate" and now the skill is considered in class for the purposes of spending points.

I realize that might be a little to easy... Feat:Skill UMD, or Feat:Skill Open Lock, or ... would be more common than say Feat: Skill Bluff, but with generally speaking feats highly prized and needed for many builds, I think it balances out.

There was a feat like this in NWN2 and I think PnP called Able Learner. With the feat there was no penelty for raising a cross class skill. IE: A Bard/Fighter would get full skill points on fighter levels for bard skills, like say UMD, instead of 1/2.

Given how it would be universally used for the UMD, and given how stingy they are on equipment for UMD? It ain't happening.

That's the one, but what it does is make it possible to get max ranks, a Fighter/Bard putting skill points into UMD on fighter levels would still have to put in 2 skill points per rank.

    This is where I disagree.

Pally's with Intimidate would be probably the most common.

UMD is honestly fairly nice for the mid teir of levels, especially twink gear, but at higher levels UMD is not nearly as usefully. Too much of the gear is crafted, raid gear, so you are left with the RR Armor bracers, a few scrolls and wands, but the builds that are going to do that already have access to UMD and or are feat starved.

Now the flip side of the coin are the "fighter" builds with more feats than they know what to do with...

As noted to me else where - it would probably be a limited to adding or subtracting with a Lesser/greater reincarnate.
