As a post-Level 6 Rogue (have XP but havent leveled yet) I attempted to solo Irestone Inlet on Hard difficulty with this hireling cleric.
Normally, this should go smoothly because I know how best to solo Irestone. I spend about an hour stalking the roving guards and backstabbing them, or using the cleric to draw aggro so that I can offer a rebuttal backstab. To take down large groups I kill the witch doctors first so there will be no threat from Hold Person. I've done this fine with the L4 Cleric Maloren. With Erythyn, I was killed about eight times.
The big problem was with toggling follow. She would stop, but about 50-60% of the time, she would not start moving when I toggled her to follow me again. This directly caused at least 3 of my deaths, since I positioned myself on the opposite side of an encampment before calling her to follow. She should have moved into the camp from the far side - if she ever moved. What did happen was I was somehow detected while waiting for her to start moving. With my healer a lot farther away than I wanted, the results were predictable. [It is true that I perished more than 3 times, but I have no evidence to empirically claim that the others were her fault. But I can blame her. Oh yes, I can do that]
Then there were two occasions when I picked up her stone to bring her to a resurrection shrine. But *BOTH* times I did that, she refused to get closer than about 20-25' of the shrine. (You'd think she liked being dead. If I'd known she was a Goth, I wouldn't have hired her.) I couldn't get her to move closer of her own accord. I was forced to make her move farther away. Commanded her to hold position at a considerable distance, then command her to come to my position when I was standing right beside the shrine. It was only by getting her to teleport to my location that I was able to get her raised.
Lost 90% XP from repeated quest re-entries, not to mention all the repeated cost of repairing my equipment.
Very annoyed.
