    Default Epic Random Loot

    No this is not in reference to the junk that is epic upgrades. Instead this suggestion is for all the other loot that drops out of chests in epic content.

    Suggestion:

    Let random 'epic' items drop from epic chests AND all chests that should have loot above level 20 in them. This is not in reference to named epic items, but instead is in reference to having actually useful and powerful loot being possible on the random tables. To enable this the enhancement bonus limit would be removed from epic tables, the prefix/postfix restriction would be removed, and new epic abilities to go on these items would have to be added along with all the existing neat abilities possible from named and crafted loot. Also this epic loot should have chances for increased damage dice, reduced spell failure chance, increased base armor bonus, and improved crit profiles where applicable.

    Some sample new 'epic' abilities:

    Greater Banishment: Upon a critical hit with this weapon any being from another plane of existence is banished to their home plane unless they make a DC 30 will save. No HD limit.
    Superior Striding: +45% Movement Speed
    Superior Banes of all types
    Balanced Strike: Each attack you make with this weapon deals 1d6 good damage, 1d6 evil damage, 1d6 anarchic damage, and 1d6 axiomatic damage. The weapon gains damage types good, evil, axiomatic, and anarchic. You must be true N to wield this weapon. UMD 35 to bypass.
    Ward Breaking: When you hit a target with a critical hit you strip any wards the target has protecting them. This includes death ward, epic wards, mantle of invulnerability, and the wards protecting many giants among others.

    Why is this needed?:

    Because quite frankly the random loot tables have for a very long time been useless junk. New abilities that do truly useful things along with some cool rare possible combinations would make random loot competitive in rare cases with named loot.

    Yep give us better stuff other than the named **** that hardly drops. Give us more reason to play Epic difficulty!

    Less 'epic' items should just drop randomly without having to do the scroll/shard/seal thing. Sure, it makes sense for an epic SOS... but the epic mask of tragedy should just have a chance of dropping all on its own.

    Now, in regards to what you've suggested. I could get behind it. Things like "epic flaming burst". Has the same ML as regular flaming burst, but 2d6 per hit and 2d10 on crits and the like.

    Something needs to be done to make vendor trash more enticing. This suggestion is as good as any.

    A little behind the times. Haste no longer gives the 40% it says it does, and striding 30% is now essentially equal too it (some say haste is still slightly better but it is very difficult to tell).

    This would be fabulous!

    The only reason I open chests in Epic is seals.... everything else is just an embarrassment to epic.

    I certainly do not disagree with 'full named epic items' dropping randomly also. I have supported for some time a change to epic chests that had this possibility along with random augment crystals and chest only augment crystals.

    Yeah, it would be nice to finally see a +3 Superior Potency VI [weapon] of +2 Spell Pen 7. Superior Potency VI weapons have been Plain-Jane since they were first introduced (when the level cap was 14). That means it's been almost 3 years since randomly generated caster gear has been improved.

    Some of the best caster abilities already exist on named items and just like with weapons/acc/armor stuff these would be on the random tables. As most know the best damage increases for spells are clickies which are superior to held items because they do not take up a slot and increase the damge by a greater amount so here goes some caster abilities...

    Superior Ardor/Inferno/.... IX
    Superior Fire.... Lore
    Epic Spell Pen +X: This grants an 'epic' bonus to your spell pen checks of X.
    Twinning X/charges: When you cast any spell you instead cast the spell twice for no additional SP cost and use up one charge on this power.
    Contagious Spell X/charges: When you cast a spell with a duration on an enemy it becomes contagious. Every enemy within 10' of the target must make a save or be effected by the spell. Every ten seconds every enemy within 10' of the original target must make a save while the spell is still in effect on the original target.
    Air Attuned X/charges: When you cast a spell with an elemental damage type that is not electric it's damage type changes to electric and one charge is used....one ability per elemental type.
    Clickies with higher DC's, spell levels, and applied metamagics...
    Name TBD X/charges: Whenever you use a clickie from an item the spell cast as if you had cast the spell, but with no SP expended. One charge is used each time you use a clickie.
    X Vulnerability: Each time you hit with this weapon (or you are hit if on an armor/acc) the target becomes vulnerable to X (x is a listed elemental damage type) for 12 seconds. The target takes 25% more damage from X during this time.

    I played Asheron's Call for several years and, while I was playing, random had the ability to be better than quest loot. You could also tinker it (craft) to make it better at the risk of destroying it. I think that was one of the things that kept me playing that game for so long. I really don't like the fact that the end-all be-all of endgame gear is all raid gear. Everyone is using the same thing.

    Why can't we have random loot that can surpass the usefulness of raid loot? I'm not saying make it leaps and bounds better, I'm saying let there at least be a chance of having really nice loot in the random lootgen. It would add some variety to the game.

    I, too, am tired of pulling +3 hide armor out of epic chests. As said before, this suggestion is as good as any.

    I would be satisfied if the trash loot was on par with level 20 elite trash loot. When you can run around in amrath slayer area and get better random loot than you can get in epic quests, there is an issue.
