    Default Trophy cases/racks

Now that we have cool guild common areas (airships), how about adding a way to display some of our "trophies" we have collected over the course of our adventures?

What I would envision is a bookcase looking hookpoint item that when clicked on would work something like a common guild chest. Everyone in the guild could drop things into to it, but instead of showing a list (and small icon) of said items, it would open a window with a nice display case graphic background with deposited items shown in real size. Each item could be hovered over (just as in someones trade window or inventory) to get a full description of said item. Maybe even having the name of the displaying character shown with it.

Each item would retain any special properties, such as bound to account or character, so only the owners of such tagged items could retrieve them. However, to cut down on the possibility of some members going a little crazy and displaying every item they own (thus quickly filling the cabinet), perhaps have it 'locked' so that only guild officers and leaders would be able open it to allow someone to place items in it. The case would NOT however be 'locked' to remove items - just like a guild chest. That way a person who displays a rare bound to character item can retrieve it at ANY time (avoiding any griefing).

I think this would be a marvelous way to show off some guild pride. Any additional thoughts or ideas?

    Default I like it!

Ilike your concept, but most items would be "in use" which is half the reason people go after them in the first place. Who wants to grind out an item only to put it on display and not receive the benefit of said item. I think a better option would be similar to the "/g (right click)item" that allows you to display that item in a chat log or link it to you bio. Maybe if you click on it and with a way to make a depositable (if thats a word) icon in your inventory, then drop it in the case as you discribe. The only issue with an officer or Leader having the keys to the case is the annoying need to have them around to display something. A different option could be that the Officer or leader could have cleaning rights to the cabinet.

    I like the concept though!

Well, I was thinking along the lines of that 5th set of Ventalated Bracers you've pulled from Reaver's Fate or an old Greensteel weapon/item that you have outgrown/replaced, or that 19th Soverign Rune of Spell Penetration 8 on your melee build (just to prove they exist to your caster guildies ).

Heck, even that Nicked Shortsword you got as an end reward for ousting the bad guys in the Marketplace that you never use anymore would make a great display item. New members (and vistors) could certainly tell how good your guild was by the amount/quality of displayed items.

Who knows, maybe that +1 throwing axe of pure good with no minimum level you thought was cool and put on temporary display might be seen by a guildie who has a perfect use for it (and otherwise never know it existed).

As for the access issue with only officers and leaders able to open it up to put things in, well, maybe they could make this an optional thing (check box). Some guilds would have no problems with people putting in what ever they like and so could leave it open for everyone. Others (especially the really big guilds) may have an issue because so many people would be wanting to show stuff off. Your idea of giving officers and leaders 'cleaning' rights is also a good one (having said removed items mailed back instantly to the owner).

The only reason I suggested the 'approval' system in the first place is to avoid any possible griefing (intentional or accidental) from having someone dump a bunch of junk items into the cabinet, filling it up (though unbound items could just be picked up by any guild member, as with a normal guild chest, thus cleaning out the cabinet - however there are those folks who do have bound 'junk' items they experimented with the stone of change (or would do so on purpose in the case of intentional griefing). Having an option to safeguard (or clean out) the cabinet would definately be a good thing.
