Nobody join it because nobody is interested.

DDO is a PvE game, and while I'm glad we have PvP (a wonderful tool for testing new weapons, spells, abilities, and items) I would prefer that Dev time be used for other things (like a new high level raid).

And then the "nerfs for PvP balance" start rolling in...

Read entire text. With one or more similar changes that I suggested it might turn enitre situation around. I do understand it is not PvP focused, but it is not too much to ask to slightly inprove it. People here are saying that it takes soo much time from "real" content. All I'm asking for is better match making (some sort of lobby) and maybe few new arena maps. It does not take that much time to make and could be realised as minor patch.

Pvp in taverns is just for fluff.

This game is not designed for real pvp.

    Real as in game wide.

It would take a different game engine and it is never going to happen with this game.

Your assumption is that people are not interested in PvP because it is not supported well enough.

The reality is that DDO is a cooperative, PvE game. People are too busy having fun that way. There are also many, many PvP oriented games that people interested in that sort of play naturally flock to.

If you want to see how interested people really are in PvP, go to your local guild forums, arrange and organise a PvP tournament, even offer prizes if that floats your boat - and see how many people actually sign up / show up.

Maybe this is too much effort for you to do - but then again, if you aren't willing to put in the effort, why should the Devs?

you are trying to make an argument for something that the majority of the player base that peruses the forums has made perfectly clear over the last 3 years or more that they don't want.

Well a lot of ppl only use pvp to test out new build designs, weapon layouts etc...

And now we have guild practice dummies on our ships...

    Hail the death of pvp!!!!

PVP would be a terrible addition to DDO. This game is loosely based on the 3.5 edition DnD ruleset. It is balanced for party versus environment. It is an absolutely beautiful game because of the variety between the clases, and the resultant emergent behaviour when questing. Want to be a vanilla power gamer? sure, grab a build of the forums, level it, and raid with a cookie cutter character in a cookie cutter party. Want to play solo? Sure, what type of solo? You can be a ninja style infiltrator that bypasses as many non-compulsory fights with sneaking. You can be a healing amp based monk splash that sustains themselves with ki based healing and small manageable fights. You can be many things. You can even play the dungeon crawling steriotype.
PVP would ruin that, it would ruin it hard, it would ruin it fast. Why? Because in PVP there are winners and there are losers. Losing is frustrating, and people would rather believe that their character is some way inherantly weaker than someone else's that accept that it is their own reflexes and practice that are the reason for them losing. Frustrated people who believe that their characters are flawed come to the forums and WHINE, INCESSANTLY. After enough they get their way because no company wants to see people critisising their game passionately, its bad for business.

    No.

    Really no.

and it is not supported well enough because the game design itself does not support PvP well enough. Just ask any rogue. The cosmetic changes you propose will do nothing to change that.

Not just DDO, but D&D. This game is Dungeons and Dragons Online... Not PvP online...

PVP= people who need to fill thier egos. It does not belong in D&D. If you want to do pvp there are plenty of other mmos out there that cater to that. Leave this game alone.

Most of what you want can be done in the game already.

Organize some friends, guildies, fellows, whatever. Ask everyone to please put X amount of plat into a pot, make teams, head into an arena match (FFA or CtF), and enjoy.

    OR.

Turn off DDO. Load up (insert multiplayer combat game of your choice). Enjoy.

Do what I do when I really want to kick some other human's ass: load up Modern Warfare 2 and blow some **** up! Problem solved, and it required 0 (Turbine) dev time! Voila!

PvP in DDO does serve as both an enjoyable distraction and a useful way to test game mechanics, which the devs have left shrouded in mystery, so it isn't a complete waste--it just doesn't really need anything else.

Do like having at least the pit in the harbor turned into a low level only arena ...after all shouldnt they get to test their builds and spells too. The rest is eh for me because I only pvp when there is a good social pvp party going on because everyone is on timers

Please stop asking the developers to f*ck up the game I enjoy playing just so you can PvP in it.
