Default Party Damage, does anybody know?

Very simple question here, is there a way for other people to tell how much damage you are dealing?

I know there is the XP table that shows how many kills you have made and the rest of my partymates can see that, but are there any Add-Ons or third party programs people use in this game to see actual damage numbers that I may or may not be popping?

The reason I ask is because I am not building my Wizard for DPS purposes at all and from what I understand of the class, DPS should not be their focus. However, a friend of mine who is significantly higher in level than I am keeps telling me that I must pick up an AoE and use it in parties because I am expected to AoE for damage purposes >.>

Now if all I have to do is throw down an AoE to placate idiots, that is understandable and manageable, but if they can see how much damage I am actually doing with said AoE (I have no Spell damage boosting Feats or Enhancements) I can also see problems arising. A smart person looking for a team should not ignore the possibility of a party leader suffering from lolbignumbarz syndrome.

    Sadly not.

Would love to have that for myself, just to have it easier with build optimisation.

no, there is nothing like all the mods from WoW

let's precisize what your friend said: you are expected to put down firewalls.

especially at mid levels firewalls are extremely strong. pull a large group of monsters together and cook them very well done.

Even if your focus is instant-kill spells, buffs/debuffs or crowd control, Firewall and its friend, the Maximize feat, is too good not to take (just as Haste, Wail of the Banshee, Mass Hold Monster and Waves of Exhaustion are all also too good not to take, as the best buff, best trash mob killer, best epic trash mob CC spell and best boss debuff respectively).
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

And we can tell when in party though. People can tell by watching the red bar of the monster. Play your toon, how you want to play. Realize that sometimes this means being turned down. You may do great dps..but if you can't or won't do what the party needs......they don't need ya.

Just sayin. I can also tell roughly how many hps you have after i heal you for a bit.

Thank god there´s nothing like this in DDO.
That´s what killed WoW for me.

I don´t need players who are more concerned with their ego, to be #1 on the e-peen-, sorry, DPS-meter, or raid leaders who kick people because their DPS is 3% lower than perfect...

Who cares ? If the monster dies, the DPS of the group was enough, I don´t need to know more.

I agree and im a fan of dps programs. This game has alot of young players and alot of older players, and both tend to nerd rage.

You see though, this is troubling.

The game offers several feats and enhancements to choose from as well as a lot of spells including these. But, because everyone would view these spells as "the beat" almost any spellcaster who hopes to get a team is going to be forced into taking these spells and taking feats/enhancements to compliment them to be considered viable and that takes away from other build options that the spellcaster may want to focus on.

I do not want to DPS with my Wizard. If I wanted to make a DPS build, then I would have picked Paladin. Oh well though, if the endgame is seriously just filled with teams kicking me because I did not drop a Maximized Firewall, there are other games out there.

I just have to ask, how exactly are you building your Wiz then? You have access to every arcane spell in game and the flexibilty all that entails.

Even without Max or Emp, just popping a WoF now and again is still viable even if you are going for a pure CC/Buff or Instakill build.

Just show that you are contributing in a meaningful way and groups will be happy. You can't avoid the off jerk who can't help but criticize everything you do. But that same jerk may be correct if you are not pulling your weight in group.
