    Exclamation Public Wilderness

I vote for some public wilderness. One of my favorite parts of any adventure is meeting someone along the way. Sometimes I'd rather not spend 20 minutes organizing a party. I still think private wildernesses are useful, especially when you don't want others camping all the mobs, but if we were to be given the option to enter a public wilderness, or a wilderness zone specially designed for public amusement I think it would be loads of fun! Respawn rates could be higher than normal, and I'd recommend a large map, even multiple connected zones of wilderness. We could have randomly generated bosses stroll through the zone occasionally (for the high level adventurers) and fill in the rest with appropriately leveled monsters depending upon the zone's recommended level. I want to see more than just 6 or 12 people out fighting monsters.

    (Bosses should definitely drop chests!!)

That's part of what makes this game different (and better). But if you feel it's a must LotRO goes F2P in the fall. Much closer to your average MMO.

    Several reasons for no

Lag would increase, as every former camping MMO player would resume such activity.

There is no need for it.

Respawn rates on current wildnerness rares are virtually instant. Even without a guild or knowing a single player in game.

Maybe you can resurrect a post with the battles in the marketplace and discern how badly that went.

I get your point of wanting to see more players in battle. I really do. Unless they make serious changes to server load, this will not happen.

hmmmm not sure how it would work. It would have to be of level appropriate players only because the area could be filled with lvls 2-9 and then a 20 steps in and no more xp. I HATE (and yes I mean it) camping on mobs. All you need is a ranger to get the first hit and you're done. My biggest issue though is lag. We already have problem with 6-12 people in one area, I don't want to imagine an area with 50-60 people in there. Warner Bros will have to come off some major cash to buy servers that can handle the load.

Don't like it. Here are my reasons.

    1) What would the wilderness objectives be? If you say the same as before, then what would spawn rates be? Each wilderness is a different instance. I am highly against re-spawning of mobs because people will start camping (in the bad sense).

    2) Talk about lag. It's like the 'Marketplace 1' instance WITH mobs. So, no.

    3) KS or Kill Stealing. If you're doing slayer, and someone else kills your mob, who gets the kill?

    4) Level requirements to enter? Will there be something stopping a level 20 capped toon from coming in to ruin the fun of level 10's? If there is a restriction, how is that Public anymore?

    And many more reasons.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

    Agreed to disagree.

The point is not to eliminate private wilderness, but to experiment with a new kind of wilderness. This is not a conversion of the Marketplace into a brawling area. It's a cultivation of the spirit of adventure in a role-playing game that almost entirely lacks "role-play". It's hard to adventure when all the adventure areas are private, in my opinion.

Explain how it's "hard" to adventure in this game?

Roleplay guilds exist. It's incredibly difficult to incorporate a true role-playing experiance in an MMO. Instanced adventures are the core of DnD (i.e. 4-6 people and a DM) and thus are extremely appropriate for this MMO.
