Default Considering Melee-Cleric but surprised at what I have read ...

I understand that we can't rely on experience in other games much when picking DDO class or multiclass, so I have been reading forums all day.

I have lots of experience with grouping, soloing, and raiding with a melee-cleric in Everquest II (level 90 toon 4 years old).

Thinking about building Cleric18/Ftr2 by mostly following Sirgog's "Cleric Build Catalog" but with more emphasis on healing by WIS on level ups, taking the healing oriented feats and enhancements, and taking what I need to run Radiant Servant. Hoping to end up with:
    - good healing in groups
    - good solo ability with emphasis on melee and with some offensive spell casting.

THE QUESTIONS ARE: I am surprised to find many posts saying you can't get groups if you have Ftr2. Seems people think the typical Ftr2 Cleric builds can't heal well in groups.
    - Am I missing something?
    - Will I be shunned for having Ftr2?

    Thank you.

If you're shunned just because you have a 2 Fighter splash, I guarantee you that you wouldn't want to group with them anyway.

You probably missing something, FTR2 build has nothing to do with groupable or not. So long as you know how to play your character well (and to some extent, know which kind of group you want to avoid at all cost -- which apply to all kind of cleric but nannybot-addicit)

One thing to noted, currently Radiant Sarvent's Positive Energy Aura bugged while you swinging weapon, but it will get fix SOON(tm).

On the other hand, Melee Cleric in Everquest 2 is a far cry from their counterpart in DDO, unless they change dramatically after I quit EQ2 after 1 and half year

    - Am I missing something? Yes. You're missing bad groups.
    - Will I be shunned for having Ftr2? No, but you will be given a pretty good idea of who you really shouldn't be grouping with if you want to keep your sanity and/or not-broken-out-of-sheer-frustration keyboard.

    Thank you.

    Melee focused clerics are fine.
Melee focused clerics that join a group looking for a healer when they have no intention of healing are not.

Why am I a disgruntled vet? I could care less about nerfs, if the rest of the update worked.
I hate epic, GSF !="generalist wizard", and my raid loot luck still *'in sucks.
