Necro Help! (General Questions!)

Hello all!

A sort of new player here, still learning the ins and outs of the game, however I have a few nub questions I'd like answered if at all possible! Here goes:

Q) I hear a lot about certain spells being scribed to your spell book, but dont you just pick your spells every time you level? Im confused!

well i havent played mages and am kinda of a noob myself but i do believe wiz can inscribe scrolls they find into there spell books ? i dont think sorc can tho im not sure !

Wizards can inscribe new spells in whenever they want. Sorcerers simply cannot. Both get spells when they level up.

Wizards can srcibe a spell on a scroll into their spell book. you need the scroll, and inscription material of the spell's spell lvl. Keep in mind that it has to be a wizard spell, and not something like cure wounds that a wizard doesn't get anyhow.

I think what you've heard is that you should always take specific spells when you level, and that's because scrolls of them are not found in vendors because a while back the developers felt they would be too powerful or 100% remove the point of taking the spell; the two that come to mind are Firewall and Dimension Door. I haven't kept up with other things (Like Frost Lance and other recent spells) but most scrolls can be found in the Portable Hole tavern.

A) You do pick spells when you level, but you only get to pick 2 new ones as a wizard. You can never have all the spells by just taking the levelup choices, which is why you have to inscribe the others. Pick the ones that are hard to find on scrolls, like people here suggested.

As of update 5, there are no spells that you cannot buy in the vendor EXCEPT the high level wizard spells. I can't quite remember but I think they are level 8-level 9 spells. The scroll for those spells however, are dropped in quests.

what? have i missed some thing.....there are quite a few non purchasable spells as long as ive known. here was an old list http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...ght=spells+buy also, the new necromancy spells are not purchaseable( lesser,death aura, neg energy burst) unless ive missed something, ive been away from the game for a few weeks

some of the spells you still cant buy from vendors
it is reasonable not to sell dimension door spells as scrolls because the game gets very easier with this UMD thing you know
