    Default Photosensitivity.

Having some really annoying issues with various spells cast like glitterdust and the flash effect that guy does at the end of von3. It's like an assault on my eyes, I suffer from migraines and after watching these effects I end up ready to throw up and in agony for at least an hour after.

I understand that you want to get across that the character has been blinded but do you really really need blind the player as well? I'm not talking about getting rid of it completly because I'm sure most people have no issues at all but it would be nice if there was somewhere in options that could dim it slightly so it's not as harsh on the eyes.

I know it seems like a small thing but it's so annoying to have to log off after every von run or gianthold run because I have a migraine coming on.

I love playing the game and I'd hate for it to get to the point where I can only do quests where the mobs don't cast the "light" spells because of one small issue.

Have you tried wearing Blindness Ward Goggles, or a Ring of Blindness Immunity, in game. Im being serious, that might help. There is a possibility, that if your character has Blindness Immunity, the Glitterdust effect will still be visible on your screen but WON'T "white out" your screen. This is because the "white out" effect is a blindness effect, that should be prevented by Blindness Ward.

Was your character wearing Blindness Immunity when these "white outs" occured? If not try iwearing it. Although I am not certain this will work.

I am pretty certain however that if you make your Will Save, the "white out" blindness effect also does not trigger.

    Hope that helps.

I will perform some tests on this later today, and let you know for certain if this works.

So in everything, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

    OP:
I too suffer from migraines and know exactly what you mean. I have no idea how the Devs would fix this, though.

The nerfing will continue until morale improves!

I don't have a medical problem but it certainly does hurt like hell when I'm doing Gwylan's at 3-4 AM.

A toggle for "soft-blinding," or making all blind effects turn your screen dark, would be a welcome addition.

I used to adjust my graphics settings to try and avoid it, but then i miss out on the nice water effects and other detailed things that are not spell effects.

Ok I just tested Blindness Ward Vs Glitterdust to see if it cancels out the Whiteout effect. These are my findings:

In a PvP arena my Level 20 Fighter removed all her resistance items and wisdom items to achieve a low Will Save of +9.

Level 20 Enemy Caster in PvP arena, casts Glitterdust with Metamagic Heighten for a will save DC of 34.

My Fighter walks into the Glitterdust without Blindness Ward equiped. She Fails the save - The screen Whitesout. The screen stays whited, my character blinded by the Glitterdust as long as I remain within the radius of the Glitterdust. The Whiteout continues for the duration of the Glitterdust spell.

My Fighter walks into the Glitterdust with Blindness Ward equipped. No Save is rolled in my Combat Log. My Fighter is not blinded, but the bright sparkly glitterdust effect is still visible. I can still clearly see my character through the Glitterdust.

Conclusion: Blindness Ward prevents Whiteout blindness effects from Glitterdust and other light blinding spells and effects such as Sunburst or Radiance. While wearing Blindness Ward characters are not effected by Whiteout.

However with specific regards to the Glitterdust Spell, even while wearing Blindness Ward, and even without the Whiteout the enemy Glitterdust special FX is still consderably bright and sparkly, enough so to still obscure objects close to the character. This is in contrast to a friendly Glitterdust spell which is still seen as a special FX, but is considerably more transparent and, and only about 1/4 of the luminosity.

The difference between friendly and enemy Glitterdust is comparable to the difference between friendly and enemy Solid Fogs, or Acid Fogs. Friendly Fogs can be seen but are transparent. Enemy Fogs almost entirely obscure sight.

Suggested Developer Fix for Glitterdust: Make enemy Glitterdust have the same transparency as friendly Glitterdust, if the character succeeds a will save or is wearing blindness ward.

    Hope this info is helpful.
