TL;DR? Wow has implement real name (first and last to their forums coming in the near future) as well as many in game applications for all of their games in an effort to reduce trolling!

The juicy rumor of the day is that Blizzard is not going to post their mod's real names because they "cannot risk having their personal lives compromised by in-game issues". . . This is entirely beyond too cute

He also deleted his facebook account. If someone were really wanted to show Blizzard that it was a bad move, they would go to his home and do something newsworthy.

Just to top the news.

I saw a thread in an official WoW general forum where a poster made public how you could display your own real name by the use of a LUA command. The command could easily be incorporated in some add-ons with the effect that you could gather real names and maybe in combination with some more informations (e.g. toon names by having the add-on make screenshots and upload them). According to the posters this even works with parental control activated.

Seems the real ID opens a whole new can of worms with some exploits and bugs not fixed.

My boss and my co-workers don't need to know what I do outside of work...

I won't give other example of why this is utterly stupid and dangerous, I think anyone with a little imagination can figure by himself.
