While I agree that it's irritating as all getout to be repeatedly exposed to people who seemingly won't ever get it... There are people out there who do pick up on good advice. Personally, it took me longer than it should to start taking good advice. My first toon was a gimp fighter wizard. I did really well with that toon until I started running reaver's refuge. ETK pointed out the numerous weaknesses in the build despite my best efforts to fix them. From there I TR'd into a fvs monksplash. Melee/offensive cast/heal til the cows come home with that guy. I'm happy, the parties I assist are happy. Wouldn't have been possible without some people here on the forums, and in the game proper taking some of their time to share their insight.

Before you decide not to take along an unknown, just gauge where you are at with patience. There are times I don't want to bother with helping out new players. I have other builds to run for that. But completely cutting off the new playerbase from the benefit of your experience would be a blow. I know this because I've run with you on both my main and a couple of my alts in quests and raids.

I'd say just avoid it when you know you don't have the patience for it. Then again, watching a train wreck in progress can be entertaining as well. Too much of either will run the risk of burning you out. Better to mix it up and keep the game fun and new imo...

Good point I think that's a great idea. One should check their patience threshold and then make the decision. Taking in consideration the 10% on a TR is another good point rich also had some good points as well. Working from the Iphone so it's a little hard to get in and reply like I'd like to but I like all the feedback.

    Default wwsd?

what would sorjek do? did i win?!?!
i have found that even though it gets on my nerves sometimes, most of the time i pug or pick up someone to fill the group, i find myself haveing fun anyways. i usally play with my guildys so we have learned to mesh our play styles. if the pugger comes along screaming about this and that. we explain to him that this plan has been found to work.

also you can ask noob ?'s to them when they scream "fight in the FF!!!'......... "what a FF? can i get that on my bard?"
    anyways have a great day!

Completed every quest in game on every difficulty setting yet do we contend to know everything... We know quite a few ways to a complete and I am not above reproach nor do I wish to give such impression as fresh ideas bring more tools to our trade.

My view and has always been such to often pass the star to fellow group members quite often, Call it delegation, call it piking, yet the goal in a quest is to share. People cope with not just the game environment but the people we encounter in differing ways. Provide for assertivness and really... give someone else the chance to drive the quest serves to give you many options.

My view as I tell all heroes... follow the star, yes you may pipe in with a suggestion but do so for the leader and group to have a choice, weight and wager on the decision. It is still the leader's call.

+1 rep, more if I could.

I don't like the idea that there is only ONE TRUE WAY to complete a quest. Even though I might have completed a quest before, I still like to see how other people/leader might do it. What I don't like is someone who keeps barking orders, "Stay, don't do anything/only I can do this/ you're all too gimped for this/listen to me and don't do anything else." Even if those statements were accurate in some way, it just sucks out the fun to be treated as doormats/being on a leash.

Strak has made it clear what he would do MANY times on the "Alternate Forum" as well as the DDO Forum. Search your feelings Sogrin...you know it to be true!

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

Hitherto, I'd always just taken the first applicants in the order they applied, but it's getting where one can't reliably get completions that way, anymore. Since the implementation of F2P, the quality of pugs has really deteriorated on Khyber.

MyDDO will tell you some information about the gear and stat distribution, but it won't tell you who will stop attacking mobs in Part 2 of Shroud when they've been prepped. I'm going to start screening.

Most of the time I'll shortman it, but once in a while will open it up to a pug or two. A lot of times it's a great learning experience for the puggers and a great way to meet new folks. If it turns out to be a noob that doesn't listen/follow directions and acts like an idiot, they get put in my pocket and dropped for the next run.

It's esp fun when I'm running up my caster TR's and you get the "Holy sh*t I had no idea a caster could run like that". Opens people's eyes.

I will use myddo if filling a raid, but if I'm pugging out spots in a normal quest I'll generally take whoever applies.

i was not trying to say there is "one way" to do a quest or quests. was just saying if a group is making a plan for the mob/ boss/ traps.... that is the group is going for a certain plan and the pugger decides to do something that the group asked them not to do. it hurts the party as a whole. then what i try to do is not lose my cool but to explain how the outcome would have been different. if it keeps on happening that's when i pull the noob ?'s out of the bag to make the pugger have a little of the fustration that the group has been dealing with.

think that the passing around the star is a great idea though and hope to try it sometime.

If I were Strakeln, I'd let anyone in and if things got bad, I'd enjoy the trainwreck!
