Key Configuration Problem !

Greetings to everyone,

I'm new in-game (and happy to tread the land of Eberron) but unfortunately I've a technical problem that I cannot solve by myself. Indeed, when I try to configure the keyboard keys everything goes well but when I quit the game (to restart it later), I'm disapointed because the launcher loads systematically the -default- configuration !

I tried several times and each time I lose my configuration (ONLY the configuration of the keyboard keys which I had selected before. Other technical adjustments like graphics or audio are properly saved, then loaded).

Someone can help me, please ?

Log in....go to key mapping and setup the way u want.

Log out to character select screen then exit game. DO NOT CRASH UR GAME.

Go to your my documents folder and find the Dungeons and Dragons Online folder and make a copy of the keymapping file....preferably to a floppy or removable device.

Log back into the game.....hopefully your settings saved properly this time. If they didn't, logout again.....go to the D&D Online folder again and erase the key mapping file and copy the one you saved earlier to this folder.

Try logging in again, it should be ok now.

The game usually saves settings as your logging out of the game IIRC. Why it's not saving yours I am not sure. If it continues not to save after logout you can alway keep rewriting with the "good" copy of the file you have saved on disk.....tho not the desirable solution it's quicker than redoing your keys everytime.

This is all I have for you...someone else with more knowledge of how this works will probably be able to give you a better solution.

Yes, you are right. I examined the file modification date and when I try to change keyboard keys from the main menu before leaving, only the file "UserPreferences.ini" is saved. The file "ddo.KEYMAP" is not changed.

So I checked your idea and when I login in game first, then I change the keyboard keys before logout to the main menu, the file "ddo.KEYMAP" is modified properly. I checked to close/launch the game several times to verify if really it's working and now everything goes well !!!

It's incredible because I wanted to re-try again to change 2/3 keys from the options located in the "main menu" and nothing done, the keymap file is not modified. Therefore it must necessarily to be connected in-game to change keyboard keys. Only technical adjustments can be modified from the main menu or/and in-game !!!

Awesome...glad I could help....I have had to deal with that issue a few times myself and I just wasn't having it

Just make sure you keep a backup of those two files on a floppy or something so if u ever reformat or have to re-install the game you don't have to go thru configuration and keymapping again
