Just because you're level 20 does not mean you're ready for Epic.

You need a mug of coffee too or you'll fall asleep waiting for the red names to die with their 300k HPs.

When it comes to min/maxing, there is no question that the warforged is the superior choice. And it's not just for solo play. It's for the fact that you can toss a quickened reconstruct to heal yourself or another warforged in an emergency. It's for the fact that you are immune to a ton of stuff that no other race is. It's for the fact that you get the best hp in the game (equal to dwarves). Warforged are a powerful race for any build. But as arcane casters they just excel.

A human is also an excellent option. For a feat-starved class, that bonus feat means an extra metamagic feat which adds increased versatility or more Spell Penetration which some sorcerers have a hard time fitting in. And they have +3 Cha over warforged which means higher DCs and more SP. In many cases this is functionally equivalent to the drow's +4 Cha over warforged and with the plus side of better Con than drow. And Con is just important no matter who you are.

So can you play a drow sorcerer? More importantly, can you play a drow sorcerer effectively? Sure. But you will have 60 less hp and fewer immunities than the warforged and 30-50 less hp and one less feat than the human. Drow do have a couple of neat action points that neither of the other two races get, but the best one (rapier attack and damage) is of no use to conventional sorcerers. And an unconventional sorcerer who focuses on melee is going to be subpar. It doesn't mean it can't be done, but it does mean that drow is not the most optimal option.

On a personal note I like adding a touch of panache to my characters. I sometimes like to go against the grain and play something decidedly not optimal. There is something to be said for uniformity, but there is also a certain kind of personal pleasure in anti-conformity. For this reason, I have a drow wizard. Not because it is optimal, but because I like saying "I'm smarter than you" in character, even if it is only by 1 point. I know I have sacrificed a few things, but as long as I play smart and build my character effectively in other concerns I am still an asset to the party.
I like playing both wf'ed and drows for arcane, the reason I like Drows is even tho they are a little less survivable, they have the ability to get nice spell DC's without the aid of spell focus feats....and the higher Charisma allows for a higher UMD.

It's all flavor really, sometimes i want something sweet, sometimes I want something salty
