    Default REAL UI improvements

It's obvious you guys have someone at least partially assigned to improving the user interface. Each update has some UI changes included with it. Note I didn't say 'improvements' because many of these changes are just that, changes. Instead of spending those precious resources on making relatively non-impactful changes, like the color of an icon that has been around for 3 years or the position of a button, how about improving some of the things that need to be improved?

    1. Make lock mean locked. I'm not sure what your definition of "locked" is but being able to move bars and icons around on a "locked" interface doesn't fit mine or Webster's definition. A locked toolbar should not be able to be modified in any way.

    2. Fix the hover bug. Sometimes mousing over an icon will show its description until you move your mouse. Other times, it immediately blinks off make it impossible to read. Sometimes it doesn't show up at all.

    3. Make hidden frames really hidden. The frame on each toolbar which contains the buttons to move it and rotate it disappears when you "lock" the bars but it's still there. If you put your toolbars close together, the hidden section will cover the icon next to it making it impossible to click it unless you click the part not covered...which is a guess since you can't see it. Either move the hidden piece to the back or really get rid of it.

    4. Make your message window able to be clicked through. The message window that appears in the top center of the screen when virtually ANYTHING happens in the game makes it impossible to click anything below it until the message disappears.

    5. Compressed enhancement lists should stay compressed. Some enhancement categories have really, really long lists below them that can be compressed by hitting the "-" button next to the name. This is great for making the list more manageable. However, it's completely ineffective because the instant you make a change, the list uncompresses! If I compress an enhancement list, it should stay compressed until I expand it.

    6. Speaking of locked toolbars, how about allowing us to toggle the toolbar lock with a key? That would make it easy to make a change on the fly.

    7. Add a "snap" feature so that we can align toolbars easily on the screen.

Since updage 5 was the Rise of the Guilds, maybe update 6 could be the "End of the Annoyances?"

    There's a work-around for this.

    - Open a collectibles bag
    - Hover over a collectible in the bag until the tooltip appears
    - Close the collectibles bag
    - Profit!!!

And I agree with your points, as well.

Does that really work? If so, thanks for the tip!

    9. Add a slider to long item descriptions and then reduce their window size to not cover the whole screen, so that greensteel items can be compared to other items in their respective slots--inspection windows shouldn't extend above or below the edges of the screen.

    10. (really should be #1) Add the ability to more finely tune game sounds and individual mic volumes! I want to be able to hear everyone in my party speaking without having to adjust my master volume down because of an incredibly loud person or up for an incredibly quiet one! I want to be able to listen to game music, sound FX and DM narration again without being unable to hear anyone speaking as a result. Possibly even individual adjusters for different types of sounds. For example, the sound of footfalls got ramped way up several updates (mods) ago, as did the sound of weapon swings.

    11. Remove the expanded text descriptions for buffs in the Focus Orb on characters/monsters, or add a slider to this so that it doesn't scroll off the screen.

    12. Wrap buffs to a second row rather than having them get cut off 3/4 of the way across the screen so we can see what we are buffed with.

Make those extended descriptions optional also. I don't need to see the full description of my weapons, just the name to make sure I'm picking the right weapon set.

Think you can collapse that stuff by clicking the arrows next to individual descriptions. Still, for those who do want to read the whole description, it should be possible.

[Edit] In UI settings, there is an option to hide expanded descriptions and just show ability titles.

    8. Add a UI scale slider. At max resolution (1920x1080 for me) everthing is too tiny but the gameplay looks great. But I have run at a lower res to make my bars and such big enough to see well and sacrifice image quality.

Revert the network status icon. The new detached thing is just sloppy.

Hi, I play Generic Fantasy RPG Online, formerly known as DDO.

That's not really an acceptable solution. You shouldn't have to get a new monitor to play a game when that monitor is good enough for a game produced by the same company! I actually did get a new monitor to play DDO but I had the opposite problem - my old monitor had a max res of 1280x1040, and the hotbars took up so much real estate I couldn't see what was going on. I probably needed a new monitor anyway given that's what the max res was, but a simple UI slider would have sorted the problem out for me, just like it did in LOTRO and WoW. They have a UI slider in LOTRO which is basically the same UI as DDO. So why isn't there one for DDO?

definately swap back to the old way on tool bar mousing. It is super annoying to have full descriptions of my weapon set appear when I am selecting a new weapon set. This truly sucks when I mouse over my greensteel weapons, as I tend to have 2 in a set, which consequently covers 2/3 of my screen when i mouse over them. Please go back to the mini descriptions when in toolbar. Let the long descriptions be for examining when in your backpack or chests/end rewards.

?agree with all the other requests as well. it would be really nice to actually have improvements rather than changes, just for noob's sake.

the greensteele tooltip is just far too annoying. i often swich out weapons when in public areas just so i can see what i have in my backpack and if i want to sell it. ugh.

Let me be able to link buffs, attacks, etc with one button (is it called macros?). I would love to make 1 button for VOD buffs, Hound buffs, etc on my Clerics. And the same goes with all the clickies for my barb, just be able to chain together all my clickies, self buffs, rages into a "quest start" button, "end fight", etc.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

I'd like to see the chat interface get a huge overhaul as well. If I want to link an item or send a tell, I have to navigate to the GENERAL tab to see the text. Different fonts and the ability to timestamp entries would also be great additions. Going a step forward, adding player name colourization based on primary class would also be cool.

    Example:

    13:24:17 Theogard (18): Hello

    * "13:24:17" is the time the message was sent.
    * "Theogard" is the character name.
    * "(18)" is the combined level of the character Theogard.
    * "Hello" is the message sent.

NOTE: All of this info is probably already collected by the system anyway.

The ability to turn off the channel headers in messages would be a plus as well ("(Guild): [To Guild]" part. Channel text is colour-coded, and for some all they need). Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a UI profile. Get a set-up you like, create a profile and than load that UI profile for the rest of your characters.

I third that, this has got to be the most annoying thing in the game for me.

+1 to OP for bringing these issues up.

Something that works to stop the "blinks off" problem with me is to uncover the "Focus Orb" (the item that displays more information about something you have selected). Seems like my inventory is always covering it up and trying to read info on weapons is impossible. Slide that aside and the problem stops for me.

I've only ever really had this problem when one of the items in question is a shroud item.

    Dunno why.
