Default Friend is playing Cleric, I wanna be Wizard

Hey my friend and I have just started playing DDO

He wants to play cleric, and after playing around a bit, I've decided I wanna be a Wizard.

What would people suggest I do when I roll my character?

We'll mostly be duo'ing quests so aim my character more towards that.

Whole thing, what race/stat distribution etc etc would people suggest

    Ty for help

I'm assuming your playing the traditional wizard.

If you have warforged, you can roll with that and do a wizard so you can repair yourself. However as you will be playing with your cleric friend, you can go fleshy and not suffer for it. Some suggest drow which is good for your spells DC but if you do not have that, you can go human.

Stat allocation, max INT irregardless what race you are. CON is your next attribute to increase (make it at least 14 though a higher value is better). Lastly, try to raise you STR to at least 10 if not 12 so you will not be incap when someone ray of enfeeblement you.

For the rest, read the guides in the wizard forum.

    I'd recommend Warforged 17 Wiz/2 Rog/1 Barb

If you don't have WF, and won't consider getting them, I'd go with Human 17 Wiz/2 Rog/1 Bard.

When I go to new servers, I use the WF variant on my normal account, and the Human on my F2P account.

I dont have Drow yet, but do have Warforged

I guess leveling as the 'Texas Hold'em' works, then I can redo myself to a true Wizard at 20 with some of those Reincarnate thingys?

I don't see any reason to do that.

In my opinion, a pure Wizard has the advantage with the capstone for higher DCs. Why not push that advantage by choosing Drow/Human?

I prefer the WF for the durability, but taking 2 rogue for evasion adds to that for even more durability. I guess I'm an extremes kind of guy. If I'm going to go for DCs, then by god I'm going to Go For DCs.

As it turns out, though, I don't go for DCs.

I like to play a halfling wizard with the healing dragonmarks. You can heal yourself and others, and suffer no penalty to healing spells cast on you. The exception to this is the pale master prestige class, but i've never taken it myself. It is too easy for a healer to heal you when your hp are low and kill you while you are a semi-undead, but each to thier own I guess.

Also, because I like the rogue class, and want them to be welcome in any quest, therefore, I decided to go with a pure caster. For a Sorcerer I would be more inclined to play a drow or robot.

My take on wizzy v/s sorc is this based upon what I have seen:

    1. Wizards tend to be more surgical with thier spells to conserve mana, while a sorcerer will fill every room with firewall whether it is needed or not.

    2. Sorcerers tend to die more often because they tend to neglect defensive spells, and draw insane aggro (see note 1).

    3. Wizards have insane versatility.

    4. Sorcerers have insane spell points, although they do tend to run out quicker than a wizard.

If you are new, then you should definitely play a wizzy first.

    IMHO
