Modified exploited build question

Wasn't sure where to post this so I chose here. I am working on a modified build of the exploiter going 12 ranger 6 rogue and 2 monk. I leveled last night and was going to take my monk lvl having two feats open to me. I selected weapon focus long sword but was unable to select whirling steel. Has anyone else had this issue?

the requirements to get whirling steel, is weapon focus slashing, and actualy being able to use Long swords in the first place, so need a level of ranger, im assuming you went rogue then monk for your early levels, since i haven't had any trouble with the feat.

If I understand your question properly: neither Weapon Focus nor WSS are monk bonus feats, so you wouldn't be able to take both on a monk + regular feat level-up.
