    Question My maybe epic multiclass.

I keep going back and forth if this is a good multiclass of not. He is a dwarf and his future build is planning to be a 12/6/2 Fighter Barbarian Ranger. I am planning him to be a great DPS with an okay armor class. So far he is 3/2 fighter barbarian with a 22 strength and a 24 con. His wisdom is 8 and his cha is 9. his intelligence is 8 and his dex is 12. He is a 32 points. Can someone tell me if this build is any good???

    Just realize:

There is no "okay Armor class" past Gianthold.
Then you have people who fully go for DPS, those who go fully for AC, and those that waste points into pseudo-AC raising, which has no effect because mobs still hit them on a 2+.

If you take Ranger, you take it at start so you get TWF for free as early as possible. And if you didn't planed to go with TWF, then Ranger is not a usefull multiclass.

Your dex has to be higher to get full use of TWF. Replace the ranger with barbarian or fighter levels dumping ranger, or switch fighter with ranger levels in order to get GTWF.

This statement is incorrect, horribly so.

Here's a prime example of why

And here's an example of a max dps builds that utalizes ac in that range

In your build setup you include things like the Chattering Ring, a Tier 3 Shroud weapon, a +3 WIS tome....

53 AC on a level 16 char (aka before you grinded all those nice rare loots that keeps AC up) requires dedication and sacrifices, and is not acquired passing-by.

What you present is a dedicated AC build.

You might call it a "moderate" AC build for yourself, because it isnt a total AC min/max, but this is far from a "moderate" AC build for a casual / new gamer. These are the players asking here for such basic advice. Powergamers dont need these mechanics explained.

Dont give new players the idea that adding a few points of AC here and there to their characters will do them any good, if they are not dedicated to it in these level ranges.

    This.

If you're planning on TWF, you'd left yourself stuck with basic TWF, a mere 40% offhand attack chance, for your entire career (Unless you feel like dropping levels ups and a nice sized tome into dex, which i don't reccomend).

If you are NOT planning on TWF, then the only reason to take 2 ranger is cure wand access and a single favored enemy.... typically not worth it. 2 rogue would atleast give you a bit of sneak attack and evasion (though maintaining the reflex save to keep your evasion up might be a bit tough).

The most glaring fault I see with your build is that you are trying to maintain AC on a barbarian. For several barb benefits, you need to be in medium armor. For barb damage output, you need to be raged. The combination of these means your AC will drop below anything remotely useful (unless you're running around in +5 mithral fullplate, but even then it won't be much).

    Yes, a good split.

You fail to understand that, that build is a max dps build, that still reaches ac that counts for all the normal content in the game, even raids. And besides, remove +3 dodge ac, +3 wis tome, +3 dex tome, and it's still 48 unbuffed ac, barks pot and haste on that and you're at 52 ac. And you have that by just doing sos for the armor, basically.

Here's a build that reaches 50+ without any gear at all, basically. And still has got high dps.

You can't use "new gamers" as an argument, because a lot of new players still want to reach what is best, they might not get there at once. But trust me, if I started this game, and I asked for help, I wouldn't want people suggesting ****-poor suggestions, just because I'm new and wont reach the better stuff.

Aye, solid split, but 6 ranger > 6 barb for that split. More dps, more survivability, more utility.
