    Default Rogue-Palemaster

    I am new the game only been playing for about 4 days now. I saw that rogues have the disarm trap, find hidden doors and open locks. Was wondering if there was a way to make a char that has rogue skill for find traps and disarming them, finding doors and unlocking chest, but could also go into wizard to get necro for pale master? Is this build viable. And before the flames start I have only played a barbarian. so please save any insults as again very new to the game. Please explain it as if you are talking to someone that has never played D&D before because I haven't.

    Sure it is possible. Build your character like a wizard, with maxed Int and high Con. Start first level as rogue (because at level 1 you get a lot of extra skill points), then go wizard levels. At each wizard level, put skill points in in Disable Device, Search, Spot, Open Locks, UMD, and what you like (Concentration is good).

    At around level 9-12, take a second level of rogue. This will give you the Evasion ability. At this level fill any rogue skill holes you might have. Then take the feat Insightful Reflexes, which uses Intelligence instead of Dexterity for your Reflex save (sometimes you have to pass the traps to disarm them, and then you'll need Evasion and a good Reflex save).

    Then continue to level your character like a Wizard/Pale Master. Just remember to keep your rogue skills maxed at each level. Maybe not Open Locks maxed but Disable Device and Search at least. Spot is good too if you havent played a rogue before, as it tells you where you should use your Search.

    Thanks for the info, my problem is that I know wizards have well mana issues and are hard to solo with even as you gain your spell points. Just want a ranged that dose good dmg but that will allow me to disarm traps find hidden doors and open chest I also played a ranger to lvl 4 but was concentrating on my bow skill and lets just say it sucked running with a group of barbs and a rogue ranger before i could even hit a mob 3 times in ww elite they had all the mobs killed. Any help or suggestions on this would be helpful.

    Go warforged, the wizard gets repair spells which heal the wf.

    You want a wizard with trap skills or a character that does ranged combat? No offense, bit I think it would be best if you decide what you want first.
