Red face Dungeon Alert is Good & Why.

EDIT: As a consequence of saying what I think I get a called a "Troll". Not very mature behaviour from some of the posters in this Thread.

It was NOT ever my intention to start a Flame War, or to incite people to argue. If people choose to argue or flame me, or each other, because of these simple oppinions that I have expressed, that is their problem not mine.

I started this thread because I have seen many Threads complaining about how DA is bad and people dont like it, and I personally can see the good sides of DA, how it balances the game and decreases zerging, or at least makes zerging more difficult, which is a good thing in my oppinion. So I decided to voice that oppinion, in the hope that many of the people who dislike DA would rethink it, or at least have a mature and reasonable discussion about DA.

The forums should be a place for open discussion and feedback to Turbine about the game. A place where players can freely express their oppinions, as long as those oppinions are not offensive and do not insult anyone.

I absolutely Refute that my intentions with this Thread were to start an argument. And anyone who arrived at the conclusion that those were my intentions is paranoid.

AND the people who are really guilty of Trolling are the people who caused this Thread to become a discussion about Trolling, by posting nonsensical one word replies... rather than discussing Dungeon Alert, which was the original purpose of this thread. One word, hypocrisy.

    ---------------------------------

I think Dungeon Alert is a great addition to DDO for two Reasons.

One: It makes DDO a harder game, where players have to think and work harder to complete quests. This is a good thing.

Two: It encourages stealth play, and makes stealth a really useful tactic in dungeoneering.

    Thats all.

So well done Turbine for adding it!

Feel free to write why you like or dislike Dungeon Alert.

If you're soloing, stealth is fine. Otherwise it blows.

Neg'd because I think Dungeon Alert is a bad mechanic, and I'm pretty sure you're trollin.

if you know how to use stealth its not a issue.
if your zerging it bring a caster with either hypno sleep deep slumber or charms problem gone.
    Dungeon alert sucks
it forces you to play kill everything or be punished for it you don't need tactics or control spells unless the dungeon has certain requirements like don't kill this monster wait till this switch is thrown etc..
I class hold person/monster as instakill spells btw because once its landed the mob is as good as dead.

The new guild system does the same thing kill everything or no bonus renown for you.
I am getting a little sick of how this game is going

I do not mind the AI scaling, kicking up the CR on a DA.

Just absolutly hate getting 'Harried', no agro around me and I get harried.

Or worse yet a bunch of bats drop down on you in a coal run, running solo. Get harried, so I just stand there and let my gaurds kill them till the effect goes away.

One: How much more thinking is involved in DA when your options are essentially...kill as you go...or if soloing maybe sneak. I certainly don't get to think more in Bastion when DA trips up at random for random red skulls...except about how badly implemented and poorly thought out of a mechanic it is, but I'm pretty sure that is not what you meant.

Two: Stealth is only really useful solo and then just barely and only in some quests.

    I don't completely hate it:

But i'm sorry, when you are playing the game CORRECTLY, and you are in a room that spawns a certain amount of mobs, and it goes from ZERO alert to yellow ---> that is wrong.

I do like the extra challenge, kind of. some of it seems ridiculous. Like a lvl 16 fighter not being able to hit lvl 6 or 7 stuff during red b/c of the massive AC boost. that's ******** (only had that happen a few times, but still)

How on Earth am I Trolling? Doesnt Trolling mean being nasty or mean to other people on Forums?

Certainly my intention is not to insult or flame anyone.

I was just thinking about it today, that Dungeon Alert basically stops people from running through a dungeon, ignoring all the mobs and killing the boss. And that this is a good thing.

Because perhaps before DA was added, it was too easy to zerg. At least now zerging has a down side. Zerging is still viable but is more difficult.

With regards Stealth - Mass Invisibility is a great solution to bypassing large quantities of trash mobs in a Dungeon.
For example in Madstone its possible to avoid about 60% of the combat, and get to the end and complete the quest. But only if you use Invis - IE Stealth of some form. Otherwise DA stops you.

Anyway there have been so many people bashing Dungeon Alert and saying it sucks. Fine your entitled to your oppinion, why shouldnt I be alowed to say that i think its good and balances the game?

I would have said it differently and for different reasons:

    Dungeon Alert is fun!

I have been soloing a lot lately, and with scaling I just don't feel like I'm always being put to the test.
I like scary battles, even when they sometimes hurt. Sometimes I like to run up a good yellow or orange, find a solid place to make my stand, then turn and start fighting the angry hoard. I like to see what it takes to bring me down - it helps me improve on my weaknesses or tactics when fighting. TBH I haven't really done this on anything higher level than a few Vale quests, but those can be a friggin' blast. Sure, I die. I am a better rogue for it though. It feels especially good to survive those.

Of course, I would never do this intentionally to a party I was trying to accomplish something with. Secretly though, I always get psyched when things take a turn for the scary in a full party. I think I only really shine during a crisis though.

I've thought about putting up LFMs labeled "Foul Dungeon Alert Experiments, death highly likely, byoh, join at your own risk"! but for now I will keep it to solo play...

Trolling can also mean you're deliberately starting a topic you know will degenerate into a flame fest for no other reason than to watch it burn.

And if you think zerging is hard... well.. You're doing it wrong.
