    Default The Light

The Light fights on the front line and puts out decent melee DPS. She's also a kill donator - she stuns with handwraps of stunning +10 (I already miss the weighted notation) and lets the big guys with serious crits mop up stunned foes. All the while, she keeps an empowered healing aura up so she's constantly healing herself and other front line combatants. The Light uses the Sun Stance so she always has plenty of Ki; this lets her spam monk finishers, including empowered mass cure light without using any resources.

    Highlights:
    • Cleric 12 for Radiant Servant II
    • Monk 8 for respectable unarmed damage (1d10)
    • Fully combat specced- GTWF chain, power attack, improved crit
    • Decent DPS with 30 unbuffed strength (14 base+2tome+2 stance+1AP+5levels+6item) & cleric divine might II
    • Capable healing - level 12 cleric spells, empower healing, maximize, extend spell, quicken
    • Makes the most of her limited spell points thanks to the 25% spell point reduction of constantly aligning the heavens and the 75% healing bonus from Radiant Servant II
    • Versatile- fights on the front lines or stand back and heal via spells or scrolls if necessary
    • Extremely self-sufficient & solo capable
    • Can easily get a moderately high AC with a few pieces of gear
    • New player friendly- requires no fancy gear, 34 point builds, and nothing beyond +2 tomes - only essential tome is a +2 dex tome by level 18 to qualify for GTWF- the rest is gravy

Enhancements below can be modified if you want to play around with the Shintao Monk PrE as well.

Skills- Max UMD at all times. Monk levels take balance & jump. Cleric levels take concentration.

Continuing our conversation from my thread

Instead of RadServII, I'd recommend 11/9.

Are you planning on getting DM2? With a starting Cha of 14, I'm guessing so.

I'd be concerned that all of your DVs would be used for the Healing Aura and DM2, so you wouldn't be able to use them for the Healing burst (except when fighting beholders, I guess).

I'll bet you'll use the positive finisher more than once every 2 minutes, so why not go to 9 monk?

You know you really want to have Improved Evasion on this bad boy

I have been playing with this for about 5 weeks now. Yes, I bought some +5 LR Hearts so I could figure out where I wanted this to go before I TR'd.

I started out 11/9 Halfling Clr/Mnk - 12 str - 18 dex - 14 wis build with all level ups in dex. Got lots of gear on this guy including dual Lit2 rapiers and a Radiance rapier (used to be a westside build). Didn't really care for the monk dark side. The 500 point touch of death was nice, but couldn't keep Ki up high enough for it to proc often. Plus, handwrap damage at lvl 9 isn't that great with finesse build. On the other side, 70+ AC is easy with gear - raid buffed I hit 89.

Haven't tried the str based you show here.

I just LR'd this week into a 12 clr (radiant servant)/4 monk/4 fighter still dex based. I like it a lot better that way the feats lay out and the dps is much better. Will finish the conversion next week to 14 clr/4 ftr/2 monk AC Dex build. I think it will be very good!

Oh, to Phidius, I really like the Radiant Servant PRE on this as it is front line melee with a constant HOT running.

Yeah, I became disenchanted with Weapon Finesse a while ago. Staying alive a long time isn't as much fun as killing things quickly.

The trick is to find the balance that allows you to stay alive to kill things quickly!

Yeah - I can't wait until the aura pulses while meleeing... it'll be sweet.

These are some interesting build combos. I could be wrong but I think the increased base damage from level 8 monk makes the 8 monk/ 12 cleric a good split.

The cure finisher is 1d4 plus 1d4 per two monk levels so one more monk level isn't going to help the finisher.

Apparently I was mistaken about metamagic feats impacting monk finishers. Can you confirm that empower healing does not work with the monk healing finisher?

They do not. I healed for more after I turned EH off
