Default Pillar of Light to Radiance III

Unless Im grossly mistaken or unless you plan on adding a low level light effect, there are no level 1 and 2 light spells. This makes the focus you added to Pillar of Light useless. If you bump it up to level 3, itll hit Searing Light, solving the problem. Also, since it has a click of searing light, it makes a fair bit of sense. Thanks.

I believe that Radiance II being referred to, is not the same Radiance effect as in Improved Radiance II or something like that, but rather Radiance II, as in the Greensteel effect.

However, I haven't actually gone in to get my upgraded one yet to confirm. It's supposed to be a on 20 hit ability or something (like a crit).

    This would make more sense.

Effective: Blind on a Critical Hit. No save, no check, just Blind.

    Needs testing.

Ohho, well that would make more sense. They need more unique names for their effects ><. Ty.

    Nimbus of Light is sad!

But we'll put bumping it to Radiance III under consideration. I don't see why not.

The Catacombs item has increased damage to level II and lower light spells, not the greensteel effect.

He's referring to this. And there is a 1st-level cleric spell called nimbus of light that does 1d8, excuse me, 1 to 8 +1/level light damage as a ray attack. There are no 2nd-level spells, but this was likely included because radiance I, as an enhancement, does not exist AFAIK. It at least leaves the possibility for any future spells added that are 2nd-level.

Aspect of Radiance 2 on a lowbie staff would be perfectly balanced. I promise.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

No, so sayeth the people who tries to look at a pillar of light and not get blinded by one if looked at in the wrong way.

Comeon, you know it makes sense! On 20 (crit), % chance to proc, just like the Greensteel effect. It's a quaterstaff, so everyone can use, but not just that, it's not overpowered as the chance of crits and using that are minimal.

May I also say, it will also boost sales and interest of Catacombs? Interesting now right? Now go make the changes.

Lol totally forgot about nimbus of light, I havent cast that in like... years. My mistake! But with a damage likely around 10ish and a focus of only 20%, youd hardly ever get any boost from it. Probably 1-2 points, maybe 3 on an amazing roll at high level, not really worth putting the item on for let alone farming the item for.

Id either up the focus level to 3, or up the percentage to like 50%, so that its a meaningful effect on Nimbus. Both would work okay, but I suspect folks might prefer it working on searing light as thats a pretty bread and butter nuke effect for awhile in a lot of clr/fvs builds. And after getting searing light, most folks will can nimbus for good.

But then having a meaningful nuke to use it on closer to the level you can equip the item might make more sense from a progression standpoint. I suppose both solutions are good ones. Anyhow long as it gets looked at, thanks!

Either way it's a twohanded weapon, meaning you sacrifice a possibility of having a good scepter in each hand. Caster staves should be as powerful as two scepters, or at least 1.5 scepters.

Nimbus of Light is completely useless. The maximum damage you can get as a level 20 cleric is 28. Utterly replaced by Searing Light.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.
