Default Please make this easier to understand.

One of the developers has something in their signature I simply don't understand.

What does 1d6 mean? Is that like a number between 1 and 6 randomly generated? Can you please simplify it and make it more accessible to non D&D players? Maybe give me a number range that I can understand. I'd hate to see someone driven away because they don't understand how numbers work New players are the lifeblood of this game!!

Also, wouldn't it be 2d6? To cover raids and such. And if you're arguing with yourself over loot... well.... you have bigger issues.

Wouldn't it actually be 1d5+1d7 to cover raids and such?

if not raids then just groups would be 1d5+1.

    just asking

    I don't believe you can have 1d5 or 1d7. If it's not a polyhedron, it's not D&D.

Meh, it would be 1d12 to cover raids and such. We could just push Oddlived in there, wait until the screams stop, thenopen the door, or we could all roll 1d100 and the highest 11 rollers get to pike loot after he solos the raid.

Actually, to get truly geeky here, the D3 should work fine, since the 3 sides could be equal, but since the D5s and D7s do not have equal size/shape to their sides, they are not truly random, and therefore could not be used for a game. The fact that one or two sides are shaped differently would cause the die to roll/fall differently, and possibly skew to a particular side, while the sides with more surface area and/or a more stable center of gravity would be more likely to come up, therefore making them invalid.

Also, in previous link, the D30 is valid and the D100 COULD be valid, assuming that the pits are 100% equidistant and all the same size.

I remember as a kid, the DM having a D100.. it was big... about the size of an average apple.
