    Default fighter/magic user/thief

    I was planning on building the iconic character, and was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent build.

    I was thinking... Fighter 11/ Wizard 7/ Rogue 2...

    Any ideas?

    Fighter 11 (so I hear) is a bad place to stop, because you miss out on Kensai2.

    I prefer the following builds for WF.

    17 Wiz/2 Rog/1 Fighter - focused on casting, decent melee
    12 Wiz/6 Ranger/2 Monk - focused on melee, utility and damage spells.

    There are also examples of the 12 Wiz/6 Fighter/2 Monk and 12 Wiz/6 Fighter/2 Rogue, but I've not played them yet.

    And to a much, much lesser extent, I'd recommend (if you don't want to play WF), the 12 Ranger/7 Wiz/1 Monk.

    Oh, and you'll get a lot of gimp comments...

    Thanks for the response.

    Maybe 12 Fighter/ 7 Wizard/ 1 Rogue, and I was thinking Elf/Drow.

    I'm not to worried about the gimp comments, as I'll use this character more for soloing.

    I'm currently playing a wiz 13 rng2 rog 2 and this plays very much like a classic F/MU/T

    TWF, Arcane Archer, lots of buffing.

    TWF Paralyzing stuff in the middle of a firewall while displaced.

    Killing stuff from far range with arrows.

    Elf of course in the classic tradition.

    Leveling very slowly as a 34 pt TR, I often change my mind about the composition of the next 4 levels.

    Its very fun.

    I have a more Rog like WF version.


    And a variety of other multiclassed toons without vowels thnk/r/s/rbll/sgmp

    I loved that combo. I made it through 80% of Icewind Dale 2, solo, with that class mix. Good luck to you! I hope you find a combination that works and you're happy with it.

    My 7 wizard/2 rogue halfling is not bad. With Master's Touch, various buffs, and the Korthos items that add up to +3 to hit, she actually melees quite well. Very short on hit points, though. We just did a pug run through Tear on hard last night, and she led the kill count by a significant margin (although she does have a Carnifex).

    2 fighter, 6 mechanic(for traps not repeaters so much),12 palemaster II
