Back to your thread topic Samulas. I just want to say that I 100% agree with you on this. Not only do you see who’s who for future reference, you also get to meet lots of new peeps. I realize that nowadays, an extra 10 minutes in the Shroud seems to be reason for some here to complain and ridicule other players, but I say if you want speed over meeting new peeps, by all means run a guild and friends only Raid. If you want to meet new players and get a feel for the DDO community in general, then patience is a virtue.

I have had the pleasure of running in some of your PUG groups and want to say that you sir have my respect. It is refreshing to see Uber players take a breather once and awhile and mingle with the general populace. Not only that, but the tone and manner of your leadership is to be commended and is a model of how Raids should be lead.

Who says "uber" players don't run with us newbs? I've run with Quik, Spyder, Shile, Moops, and many others. They've all been nothing but cool/nice. I still wanna run with Kalari and test out the whole thing about killing her for better loot though! :P /derail! LOL!!

I didn’t say newbs, I said the general populace consisting of both Newbs and Ubs alike! As for the others you speak of, they are all great players and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I’d only say that Samulas is a bit more patient and has less expectations of what a group of PUGs can bring to the table. If anything, this post shows his interest in meeting new people at the expense of a longer completion time.

Thank you for the compliment. I am not into the speed thing myself. I play to relax personally. I prefer to run things on elite for challenge, not fast on normal. I prefer turn based strategy games as opposed to real time as well. Just personal preference, I guess.

One bad thing I've seen happen regarding the shroud and speed vs. normal runs, is people trying to push normal runs into speed runs. Makes it upsetting for people new to the shroud or those wanting a more leisurely pace. The main place it ends up bad is when someone pulls the 4 named into the south right away. I've seen this happen multiple times, and it never ends up good. There are all sorts of times when I see signs of irritation on both sides. I think we have to "segregate" the shrouds. Seperate but equal and all that. The fast shrouders and the normal shrouders. They just irritate each other anyways.
Doing a good job here is like peeing in a dark suit.

You get a warm feeling, but nobody really notices.

I think that people should not be D-bags and follow the pace the leader sets. I much prefer a zergfest, be it normal, hard, elite, or epic. But if I join a shroud that is going slow, i go slow. I may whine about it in guild chat or channels but i try not to take it out on the group.

That said, you wont see me joining many shroud pugs unless I know the leader plans on running fast (unless of course im in dire need of larges )

So back to the point of the other recent shroud thread, if the lfm says fast, be prepared to go fast, if it doesnt, dont get in the group and try to force the issue.
