No launcher, nothing happens? Help?

Hate that you had so much trouble. Sounds like the launcher is having trouble getting connected to the 'news' server. Good that you got it going. Hopefully once you load up any of your characters it will force them to update and come current. What server will you choose to play on?

Finally got it running and got into the game...

Made a character (had an old account, have 4 slots) but now it just says my char name and UNKNOWN under it... very odd. This game better be worth all the trouble

It's awesome you got it working! If you make a character in thelanis or argonnessen we can contact in the game after I solve my issues in downloading it =].

Finally playing (played for quite a few hours actually.. very impressed with what they have done with the game). My characters were on Kyber so I started again there.

I am not TOO attached though so if someone has a nice guild that uses vent and plays together I'm sure I could change

How much do you love Vista?
I'd say join my guild but it doesn't feel right, I don't wanna feel or make you feel I am 'farming' you for guild renown. But the invitation is there. You are more than welcome in the Crateslayers...

Just tell me what server you guild is on and I'll make a char there. Might have convinced a friend to try it out too

Argo, Thelanis, Cannith. Each Server has a 'branch' of the CrateSlayers. I have been mainly on Cannith as of late.
My main there (Chunks of Spew) is the guild leader. If you are able you can send me a in-game mail. So I'll know you PC's name. I can add you to my friends list and if you log on, it will let me know. If you add my guy then if you are already on, you will see me log on.

I am on vista 32 bit and I am having the exact same problem. I played since the original Beta and when I decided ot pick the game up again after a good 6 months atleast, my client no longer worked. So I uninstalled my old client, my Lamania client, and downloaded the new one. It downloaded, installed, and when I click on the launcher, the invoker, the client, it starts to load somehting then nothing happens. If someone from tech support could give me some help here.

I would try the steps outlined here and once you do the step of running the "Turbineregistergdf.exe" file detailed there try launching from the icon in the Games panel again.

If its still not launching at that point definitely follow up with a tech support request if you havent yet as well.
