    Unhappy Reincarnate Wings are Gone...

Just getting around to check out all the new features that update 5 has to offer when I noticed TR wings are gone! As a fairly new MMO player I have to admit I'm going to miss them and for more reasons then just the obvious... Would love to see them back as it makes the generally more experienced players a lot easier to identify. Yea, I know you can click and look at a toons title but it just aint the same and not always easy to catch a toon on the move!

TR has nothing to say actually

everyone can level to 20 and use their credit card for a true heart

nothing in TR which says skilled player

    In a way yes.

Yeah anyone can buy a true heart of wood but most normal people don't want to grind to level 20 as a Tr. That's why most skilled people or people with knowledge of the game Tr more often then the people who just hit 20 on there first toon.

    Op is right.

Ding Dong! The wings are gone.
Which wings are gone? The stupid ones!

Now to get rid of the **** Twilight sparklies when I enter a dungeon…

    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

TR has nothing to do with "skill", and no one has suggested they do. It has to do with dedication: to relevel a character to 20 with increased XP requirements, and to either run 20 epics or drop real money on their character. None of these things suggest greater skill, only a great investment of time (including time worked to earn the money to buy a true heart, if you go that route).

I could understand if they'd removed the sparkly aura since that sometimes caused people to lag when zoning in, but I cant understand why they'd remove the name wings. It's entirely for prestige, and does absolutely nothing to game balance. This wont even remove bias against non-TRs, since the easiest way to screen players (myDDO) will still clearly show whether someone has been TR'd or not. It seems like all this will do is make TRing seem that much less cool and slightly decrease Heart of Wood sales.

I hope you decide to leave them removed. It looked silly.

I vote for bringing the wings back, but killing the Guild Rank Number. Fix two things at once.

It is a good thing that members of a raid group will no longer have 24 solid-color wing images clumped over their screen making it even harder to see the game graphics.

I agree that TR has nothing to do with skill or experience, but the OP thinks otherwise

No hurry. Unless, you know, you want to add a toggle checkbox in the U.I. Controls allowing us to turn it off on our characters. (Then other players can get inundated with “tell (newb): How did you get those wing things around your name?”)

As you quoted, he said "experience". Experience is not skill, and TR'd players ARE more experienced, both in the literal and gameplay senses. They must earn more "experience" to level, and because of the increased amount of time they must devote to play, they have "experienced" more than most players.

The presumed connection between skill and experience is erroneous. My dad has been working in the technical industry for twenty years and built all his computers from the ground up. He is certainly more experienced than my little brother. But my little brother is far more skilled with computers, both in terms of software and hardware, despite having only about five years of experience. My ex-girlfriend was not terribly experienced, but she was far more capable in bed- that is to say, skilled- than other girls I have known with much more experience. You see how they mean very different things?

A player could TR until they reach completionist and never be a skilled player. This could be due to lack of manual dexterity, having a slow internet connection, or simply persisting in bad build decisions. This will not change the fact that they will be far more likely to have seen more, done more, and yes, experienced more than the average player.

I had to laugh at this...

Most times I see a TR join a group, unless I recognise a guild name or player I cringe. So many players rush to the end of the game and TR and are clueless. Worse because they have wings actually think they have a clue but still don't. There is nothing that makes me more sad when a TR has no idea where a quest is in giant hold.

On second thoughts bring back the wings but for the exact opposite reason of the OP.
    Milacias of Kyber

Leader of the Crimson Eagles Kyber

The Myth- TR will make my character powerful
The Reality- Those kobolds in Water Works won’t have a chance but nothing else cares-Learn to play your build and all its abilities in actual difficult content, get gear and reaper points in level 30+ content and raids.

I completely agree with this. In fact I ran into a Tr'd healer and he/she was the only healer in the group. When another member of the party asked for a heal his wisdom was to low to heal..
