Default Expired AH Items not attached to expiry letter!

    Hi!

Am one of the currently-affected group of people who have been downgraded from Premium to F2P after Update 5.

Decided to log on to my main alt anyway, to check what had happened with some auctions I had up. Those that hadn't sold had, as usual, been returned to my Inbox, but when I opened the 1st one, the expired item wasn't actually attached to the mail.

As I'm currently mis-identified as a F2P player, I can't open a ticket in-game , so have been all over the ddo.com and turbine sites trying to work out how I can even report this.

I have several expired auction mails that I haven't been game to open, in case the same thing happens (as I just lost a nice little Wounder to the void), so would appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction or help me find out how I can sort this (before the mails themselves expire and I lose everything anyway)!

Fingers crossed that the good fairies of DDO pass by and can help.......

    Thanks.

Wanted to add a voice that I also have this problem - returned auction mail but didn't actually have the items attached. (5 days left before letters get deleted.) Here's also to hoping we can get this sorted out.

    Thumbs down

    Hello all,

I am also having this issue. I just logged in, and saw that I had mail, I go to the post, and my expired auction came back without the item. I'm not premium though, or F2P, I'm VIP. I pay for this service, and I'm not getting my items back, I have a bunch of items up for auction, and I'm now hoping that either they sell, and I hope to get my money, or I'll get my items back... I'm not very happy with this issue.

Same problem on my account. Hopefully they fix it before something big closes and I lose it.

I just had this happen also and have 4 or 5 more auctions expiring in the next few hours. Would be nice to see this resolved before it affects to many of us.

But I want my item back. I am sure that this is not too hard to do via the tech folks---as the item is still listed in my mail box.

I wish I had known that something like this might happen. I had many multiple items posted at the auction house and many sold (which thankfully I got the money for), however, the items that expired have gone missing from my mail. I am a P2P player and have a VIP account. I am missing more items than I believe it is fair for me to have to do screen captures of. Also the later ones that expired which I have not opened have a 3 week expiration time so I don't want to open them if this is not going to be fixed before the 4 days the first ones have left (I opened them all not realizing that the time was shortened by opening).

I submitted a tech request and am quite flummoxed to see that tech support has not yet responded to my request. I understand that they are likely busy handling complaints, but it has been nearly 24 hours and nothing in my email at all, not even a form response saying that there are technical issues and I will be responded to as quickly as possible.

I may be new to this community but I have worked support for other online games and generally support is given 24 hours to respond to an inquiry. Is this not the case with DDO? Also, have we heard anything from the administrators about this problem and when it is expected to be fixed? I did a search and have so far only found people complaining about the problem but have found nothing on the fix.

    Thanks!

I do not wish to disappoint you all but you really need to accept that you will not get the items back. You will not get compensated from Turbine directly. Sure, maybe once all the dust settles from the abomination that is U5 they will throw out a generic bone to all for the 'inconvenience' like extend a bonus xp or +1 loot weekend but that's it.

I am not trying to be a kill joy but this HAS happened before and Turbine did nothing specific about it for anyone. Whether they actually can track what was missing or not, they do not have the time/resources/manpower/desire to actually replace every bodies missing stuff.

I am speaking as someone who also lost 5 items in returned ended auctions. I am also someone who lost items previously and was told by a Turbine CSR over the phone that they items would be returned once they sorted it out. Days went by and nobody ever got anything back, just a generic "oops we screwed up, here's 3 days of +1 loot". Back when they first implemented the AH, if you posted an item with out a buyout price, someone could just buy it for 0 gp. They didn't anticipate this, it wasn't how they intended it to work, they did shut down auction and fixed it later. It was at that time that I lost several items so I called Turbine directly. The nice CSR assured me they had records of who had what and assured me they would give me the items back... it never happened. Their official stance changed a few days later. No item refunds would happen.

It will not be replaced. Accept the lesson learned (don't leave items in AH during updates) and move on a little wiser.

I wish I were wrong (always possible, if so I will publicly congratulate Turbine for the move) but 4 years of history says those items are G O N E !

The sooner you accept this, the sooner you can get over it.

I know what you're saying, GG - and appreciate that you're just trying to help those of us affected by this to manage frustration levels, but........ as someone who hasn't experienced this before, I don't think it's out of line to expect some kind of response.

Am not expecting "Oh dear, let me replace those for you immediately", but "Oops - really sorry guys. Wish we could fix it and will try not to let it happen again!"seems justified.

These things do happen - am dealing with being downgraded, am dealing with losing some of the better stuff I've ever auctioned. Life goes on, but having not done anything to cause these things to happen, I do feel like I deserve an acknowldgement and an apology.

Although various forum comments don't lead me to expect one, I'm not yet in the "it's always been like this, and will never improve" camp. After all, there aren't many ways we can express our displeasure/disappointment other than in the forums!

Don't worry that so many of us are doing this. Your advice is appreciated, and we'll either learn better...........or maybe one day we'll see an improvement!

No problem man, I do empathize with you, I really do.

I would like to hope they would acknowledge it and try and make it right, but I cant believe it anymore.

You are completely justified posting this thread and making all of the comments you made. My intent is as you said to try and help some move on (from a place I have been). I was foolish enough to leave some items in the AH over the update so I didnt follow my own advice. But since I am jaded, the result and response do not surprise or bother me.

Keep fighting the good fight and good luck. I hope you pull better loot today than you lost yesterday

I am sorry you have had bad experiences in the past. This does not mean that Turbine will not have learned from previous incidents and make changes based on the feedback they have received. It is lazy thinking and dismissive attitudes like yours that don't change things and don't really help people, it just discourages them.

This incident and all of the hot fixes they have implemented make me wonder if Turbine perhaps need to re-evaluate how they do testing for new updates and changes to the game to work out bugs before uniformly rolling it out. It seems to me that there is minimal testing done since everyone has so many complaints whenever a new version is rolled out.

I would purpose that perhaps Turbine utilize the creativity and intelligence of the community here to test forthcoming updates. Maybe set up a test server where people play to test the new updates (have the community do the testing not the programmers) because it affects us, the end users, in ways that the programmers may not foresee when writing updates. Another thing they may want to consider, and I saw this mentioned elsewhere, an update like this be rolled out to a single server and work out any bugs before rolling it out to all servers. That way there are less players impacted if something goes wrong. Turbine then wouldn't have to make huge fixes and keep all servers down for longer than people would like. This would make it easier on the tech support people and allow Turbine to be a little better able to inform us of issues rather than having to run around fixing problems after the fact. This would help their roll-outs be more proactive rather than reactive, as they are currently.

The think I found to be most disappointing was not that I lost items, I can handle that I lose things all the time, but that there was never an acknowledgment of my ticket. It took hundreds of people complaining to get any sort of issues mentioned publicly. I can understand that they are likely busy trying to clean up the mess but all I wanted was some sort of acknowledgment that said "we know of the issue and are working on it."

I'm the same I have a VIP account and had loads of items on AH. Some I managed to cancel but loads returned with no attachment I have lost thousands of Plat from lots of grinding and tbh at lvl 7 that's a lot to me.

If we don't get any sort of compo then I will re-asset my commitment to the game.

Yep, three cheers for the developers and technicians responsible for this fix! After some of the comments in here, I didn't think we'd be seeing a resolution. The naysayers now get to eat their words, and savor it!

I may be just one squeeky voice amongst the masses, but... thank you!

    Thumbs up Thank you Turbine!

On Saturday I logged in to my account and saw a post on the log in screen that said all missing auction house items had been returned. I excitedly opened my mail to find that indeed all of my items were returned and were there waiting for me to pick them up. Thank you so much to all of you at Turbine who have listened to the complaints (current and past) of your customers and returned the items so many of us lost due to the update.

It is relieving to know that you are wiling to listen to the complaints of the community and repair our losses.

To all who worked to make this happen, thank you!

Default Pleasantly surprised for a change

I was gone for a week and a half on vacation, but on returning, I checked the forums and found the thread where they updated the issue and it's final instructions about getting the items back as "boots". I detached and sold my lost items.

I would like to thank Turbine for stepping up and not dropping the ball as so many jaded vets (or at least this one) had fully expected. It wasn't even about the money. They weren't even a small percent of the total gold I've accumulated over the years. It was the sinking feeling of "oh god, not again" from fully expecting to be disappointed once again. I am happy to have been wrong in that. I'd almost say who are you and what have you done with the real Turbine, but I think you get the point.

Once again, thank you. This is what custormers expect. Not perfection, not somethin for nothing entitlement, just honest acknowledgement of issues and resolution like you care. Heres to hoping they have a similar resolution for those affected by the missing guild bought things. Not personally affected here, but those who are can at least take heart from seeing this issue resolved. If they had one big database they could track the items down in, then there's a good chance they might have those as well.
