Default Ninja Spy I and the capstone enhancement do not stack?

Since both Ninja Spy I and the capstone enhancement Monk Serenity are supposed to increase passive Ki generation by 1 i just found out that they do not stack on my character. Is this a bug or is it working as intended?

Shadow Fade is a big disappointment. 1 Minute of invisibility is worth nothing. Even the Amrath clickies provide longer invisibility and 1 minute of blur is a waste of time.
When the duration of the blur spell is considered too long as duration for shadow fade, they could at least have made it depending on level and taken the progression of the Haste spell for casters as a model.

Well that sucks. I was thinking about giving up 1 or 2 of my feats that give me more ki per hit and just staying in stealth more, but I guess that idea is out.

i will double check but when i was on lam they did stack. The trick is the monk pre ki bonus is that you must be sneaking for it to enage.

Correct - you must be sneaking, and it *should* stack. Please confirm if it doesn't, as I can't test right now. If it doesn't stack, it's a bug.

    Also, re: the 1min buff - it's a 1 min, 25% incorporeality buff.
Blur is only 20%, so this is better.
And as it's incorporeality, it *should* stack (or partially stack) with Blur/Displacement.

I was about to post the same thing. I can confirm that they're *supposed* to stack from following the Pale Master threads. Supposed to and do are obviously much different so testing would be in order.

they do stack, you just have to go into sneak mode to get the ninja spy bonus for it.

Ok that was obviously my fault. I misread it. Knowing that it works this way i am even more disappointed by the PrE.
Concerning Shadow Fade i still think it should have the duration of an extended Haste Spell so roundabout 3 minutes to be useful.

Thank you for the quick answers.

Yes, it was known everything about the PrE was garbage but the sneak attack. Move along.

The incorporeality bonus only benefits when in sneak mode? i.e. not fighting?

That is something entirely different. The incorporeality is from the Shadow Fade ability, and it works for a full minute after you cast it, regardless of what you do.

Thanks Solar. I haven't had the chance to play since U5 as an Aussie and now at work. Within the normal limits of annoying 1 min buffs, can you keep it refreshed and effective while raid tanking/fighting generally?

Very easily, it's just one button to hit, costs 15 ki.
Unlike finishers, you don't have to do anything special to prepare it, so it's simple to keep up 100% of the time.

25% incorporeal (75% if used with displacement) at the click of a button (immediate "casting" time, no chance of being interrupted), what's there to complain about? This is basically a get-out-of-jail-free card. Were you expecting invulnerability?
And why the quip about Ki regen? The PrE is supposed to benefit rogues who spend lots of time sneaking, adding further functionality to a monk splash; sounds like this is working exactly as intended. It also allows you to build up free Ki without having to capstone, please explain why this is bad?

Incorporeal and displacement/blur are different so not additive but multiplicative.

They are working fine for me. As to shadow fade, iirc in PnP, in combination of displace+25% incorp would require 2 separate rolls of a d%: one has to be above 50, one has to be above 25.

    Default I stand corrected!

Thank you for pointing out the multiplicative nature of the buff, never the less, its still pretty sweet any way you slice it.

Since I wear a blur cloak all the time, I LOVE the incorp addition to my build. Makes it that much more survivable.

And so what that you have to be sneaking to get it. It makes a GREAT ki management tool as you can just go into sneak to slowdown your ki drain between fights and when you get in a quest. I can't wait to get back to 20 to have +2 when getting back up from 0.

All monk buffs are 1 minute, with the exception of the Light side Protection from Evil, and that would just be silly if it was 1 minute as it is so weak. 1/4 the dmg intake is amazing.

Well, I like the fact I can start a quest with 110 standing ki given the time it takes for buffs to be handed out
