    Default Update 5...Seems to have broken the launcher (again)

    Working from memory here, but I believe this happened after the last patch as well. Game starts to update, requires restart of the launcher, can't find the specified file.

    There doesn't seem to be much of any excuse for this. What's the workaround?

    I'm getting an Unspecified Patch Error when it gets to Examine Game Data on the launcher. Anyone know what it means or how to fix it?

    I guess I'll be downloading the client...again. Would be lovely if someone could respond with a workaround before I wind up uninstalling the entire game to fix the launcher.exe

    Copied contents of the ddo backup folder to ddo folder. Seems to be reapplying the update. Will let know if fixes launcher.

    Edit: Nope same error with the launcher.

    Hmmm...not looking good. I tried that, and went from "launcher not found" to a complete freeze-up.

    Edit - disregard, this is a different issue somewhat - though U5 still did break an existing launcher I had.

    Mine won't update at all. Says that I don't have the current version of the client installed. This happened after both of the previous two updates, and I had to uninstall and re-download then too.

    Default Cant believe there has to be so much **** at every update

    mine also says i dont have the current version of client, why the .... is there not a manual download option, why cant stupid turbine learn from the mistakes they've already made once and wait with releasing something until it works properly

    I'm stuck at Creating Validating part at 306.24 MB of 4.46 GB. Simply will not budge at all. I tried restarting during which it would look like it's starting then drop down to 0.00 KBs. :| Would appreciate if there's a solution to this...

    Well, I uninstalled the game, and when I went to open the TDM to re-download it the manager went insane and started opening window after window after window about every single key that its missing. Tried 3 times and it kept doing it, so now I've had to uninstall that also. Guess I'll check out the new update sometime later tonight.

    Made another experiment.
    Tried to patch up on another laptop with Windows XP, and seems going well... still.

    Reinstalling then patching the another DDO on Windows 7 platform.

    Same here=== don't have current version of client, plus I never saw the download for mod 5 happen...Look at the download manager and it says game up to date, lol. How can it be if update 5 did not happen on this machine?

    Red face Had the same problem with selfpatch.dll

    The launcher said "there was a problem starting selfpatch.dll" when it was trying to restart while loading update 5 on Windows 7.

    So I checked my turbine folder, and the file was in there. So I added C:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine\DDO Unlimited (which is where selfpatch.dll lives) to my system path and tried again. This worked, thankfully no need to re-install the client.

    Redownloaded, reinstalled, same problem. Gets to "Updating Game Data" and just up and dies.
