Working from memory here, but I believe this happened after the last patch as well. Game starts to update, requires restart of the launcher, can't find the specified file.
There doesn't seem to be much of any excuse for this. What's the workaround?

I'm getting an Unspecified Patch Error when it gets to Examine Game Data on the launcher. Anyone know what it means or how to fix it?
I guess I'll be downloading the client...again. Would be lovely if someone could respond with a workaround before I wind up uninstalling the entire game to fix the launcher.exe

Copied contents of the ddo backup folder to ddo folder. Seems to be reapplying the update. Will let know if fixes launcher.
Edit: Nope same error with the launcher.

Hmmm...not looking good. I tried that, and went from "launcher not found" to a complete freeze-up.
You know, there are alot of threads in here that ALL seem to involve the same issue, not being able to login due to the autopatch failing. I vote for a sticky, and a **** fast resolution, before my credit card spontaneously 'expires'.....
I had gotten the launcher to work the night before the update. Now, it locks into an endless loop of "error32" messages, until I get mad and do the 3finger salute to terminate the launcher process. I have tried the "fixes" posted to no avail. Even the running of the gdf file Turbine suggests does not report success (either through running the file, or attempting a manual fix).
When you have to go through this kind of hassle to try to evaluate a game to see if you would like to pay to get all the bits and pieces, one must ask if it is worth the effort.
If someone knows of a way to solve this issue, pls advise. I have a Win XP Pro system, with plenty of RAM, Vid Card memory, and processing speed. If there is not a workaround that will continue to work, I'm afraid I won't be playing DDO. I do have both AC and Lotro on the same computer, removing them is not an option. Hopefully someone here can help
I was having a problem launching the dndlauncher.exe as well. Rebooted, seems to be working fine now, validated all data and is letting me log in.
How many years, and Turbine still can't make an update without breaking the game.
All these folks posting problems and where is the customer service response?
ANY other software with this track record would be dead. Turbine you're sooo lucky gamers are junkies.
take time to stop and smell the fresh virtual air...
Well, so far I've tried ...
... uninstalling and reinstalling DDO .... fail
... uninstalling and reinstalling the necessary .net framework and applicable patches to same ... fail
... doing the "instructions" regarding the GDF file ... fail
... doing the GDF file manually ... fail
So far as you can see, nothing has worked. Now there must be something somewhere that addresses this issue, and how to go about fixing it. I'm pretty sure others are playing Lotro AND DDO. Oh and by the way? There IS no TurbineInvoker process running when the launcher is trying to patch itself - whoever thought that one up (on Turbine's instructions) must have been pulling ideas out of dark places.
Isn't anyone here knowledgeable about a launcher that is NOT patching dndlauncher because it is supposedly in use by another process? And said launcher locked into an endless loop of restarting, trying to update, providing "error 32" message, and repeating over and over? My desire to see what this game is all about is rapidly fading ...
Not sure if this is the same prob but... click the .exe launcher opens and getts stuck on creating/validating with 0kbs of 0kbs. I have done the pause thing to no avail. plz help
