Default Don't reduce rogue trapmaking level

The release notes today say that in the future, Rogues will automatically be granted Trapmaking at level 1 instead of level 4 like they are now.

That will be a mistake, making the game more complicated for new players and loading the inventory of Korthos rogues with trap components that aren't usable without the machine in Harbor, and which would be too weak to bother with anyhow.

I suggest that if the devs really want to make Trapmaking automatically given with just 1 level of Rogue, they instead delay it to character level 4, so that newbies aren't confused by it.

In addition, note that having Trapmaking as an explicitly-trainable feat doesn't make sense if it is granted at Rogue level 1, because a character would need to have Rogue1 to qualify for the feat.

Agreed. I'd also consider making new Rogues more aware of this ability. New players frequently don't acknowledge the free Feats they get as they level up. Maybe a nice mail from a shady character guiding the newly Level 4 Rogue to the merchant/altar.

I like it at L4. It also means trapmaking will require more than the 1 or 2 level standard spash, which is not a bad thing.

    Yep, exactly.

    Keep it at 4.
And, as others have suggested, maybe send an email or have something indicating the new ability once you get to level 4. Such as your trainer opening a blurb saying "Congratulations, you are now qualified to learn how to craft traps! Please see <insert NPC here> for more information on this."
