Default sneaky monk ninja (need help) scorpion wraith??

Hi everyone i need help bigtime.

    Reason why
    1. new to the game
    2. dont know enough about the game to plan characters properly. I have the planner but well its like handing a child a loaded gun in my case.
    3. my friends are also new and we tend to mix soloing and grouping (50-50)

    What i am looking for
    1. i like sneaking
    2. i like the idea of sneaking drow
    3. i like the idea of a sneaking drow with monk like abilities
    4. i read somewhere that you could arm a drow monk, rogue with shortswords and go nuts with a skill called tempest (although i dont understand the mechanics)
    5. i read and loved the idea of the ninja spy
    6. apparently the scorpion wraith thing thta is to be realsed today will make a sneaky monkish drow worth playing (remains to be seen i guess)
    7. i favour dex builds as this will help the dex based rogue skills i guess, so i want to rely on hiting often and fast with the possibility of sneak attacking

Knowing all that i ask for your help to help me build a character. Not to be totally 100% reliant here is what i have in the planner so far note i have not put in all the enhancements or feats as i really have no idea what i am about . Comments and help really needed.

I seriously doubt you want a Monk12/Ranger6/Rogue2 with Ninja Spy II, Tempest I, and trap skills. What do you want the character to do? You want Ninja Spy, and you want to be sneaky, ok you can do both of those as a pure monk. Do you want to be able to disarm traps, most of them you'll be able to ignore with evasion if not. Do you want a minute bonus to two weapon fighting and a bonus to armor class? If not, tempest won't help and you'd be better off as a pure monk.

Scorpion wraith isn't coming out yet, we know nothing about it other then it's name.

    good questions!

First thanks for responding to my "cries for help"

I would like a sneak attacking monk that can disarn traps when playing in a party. A monkish "entry-man" assassin is probably the best description i can come up with.

    does that help?

Well, you could do Monk13/Rogue7 (8d6 sneak damage), take Ninja Spy II and Assassin I, however when it does come, Assassin will lock you out of Scorpion Wraith. Alternately you could do Monk19/Rogue1 (4d6 sneak damage) if you just want trap skills, but at that point you would be better off being a full monk (3d6 sneak damage) without any trap skills.

The biggest problem for a monk that wants to be able to do traps is monk isn't a class that benefits from intelligence, its actually the least useful stat to them (charisma is used for one finisher, though a pointless one typically). This means in order for a monk to delve into trap skills, they lose strengths in other areas, either damage output, ac, or hit points. Add to this that drow can only be 28 points and monks already suffer from MAD (multiple attribute dystrophy) and stat distribution becomes a difficult thing. I'm not saying it can't work, the stats you selected could work, but the character will have a little less hit points than would be preferred.
