In-Guild Raid Loot Rolling

Ah fun times.

For those that want to know "UP FRONT" what every party member is doing with their loot (or judge entire guilds based on what one member does), here is a very typical story for you, of what a very typical Abbot that I would form up would look like.

Name <Guild>: opinion on raid loot
Ash <sabbat>: I'm going to ask in guild chat first, then offer to the others if no one in guild wants
Nem <sabbat>: I'm going to immediately offer to put it up for roll for everyone in group, even if its loot I should probably be taking for myself
Soh <sabbat>: I am going to pass it to a non-guildie that just happens to be my husband because, well, he is my husband
Cer <puppykickers>: I am going to loot everything I pull because this toon just got flagged and needs it all
Treak <sabbat>: I am going to give whatever I pull to Samadhi because he's not using his mic which means he's probably hungover and needs a pick-me-up and he did just hook me up with ninja'd loot earlier today
Chester <sabbat>: I'm going to loot this caster item on my monk because I didn't realize it was bound
Dread <sabbat>: I never pull raid loot except on 20ths so I don't need a policy; and I hate you chester
Docta <sabbat>: Litany goes to guildie casters first, then non-guildie casters, then non-caster guildies, then non-caster nonguildies. Ring goes to guildie melees first, then non-guildie melees, then guildie non-melees, then non-guildie melees. Embers goes to....
Divs <GRR>: I know pretty much everyone in group so I'm just going to put it up for roll; if there were more puggers around though I would spend an hour in a chat channel figuring out who to give it to
Lor <GRR>: I know pretty much everyone in group and even everyone's gear set ups so I'm just going to ninja it to whomever I think needs it most
RandomDude <no guild tag>: [completely unresponsive to voice and typed chat; no idea if he even understands what a puzzle assignment is, let alone have we been able to determine what he is going to do with loot]
Samadhi <sabbat>: So Litany I had a d2 rolled earlier to give it one of the two guildies on a caster/cleric. The ring is getting ninja'd right to Dread because he has horrible loot luck and I know he needs it. RandomDude looks like a ranger using a bow so I'll probably ninja him bow/quiver. Noxious Embers I will hold on to for a second to see if anyone pulls gloves and wants to trade; if not put up for roll for everyone. Gloves I loot. All other loot will be randomly ninja'd to whatever name pops up about 1/3 of the way down the list (i.e. will randomly be ninja'd to someone in the group with no concern with for whom / to whom) with such speed they will probably think they pulled it themselves.


So the moral of the story.... if you want to spend half your life discussing loot policies - I'm not here to judge you. Personally, though, I have better things to do. You know what the easiest and most democratic system is? Your loot, your decision, I'll keep grinding for 20ths and keeping my stress levels low in the meantime. Peace.

The only part you left out was how everyone had a fun and successful raid (even with Dread in the party) and no one freaked out about loot* cuz they all knew they would run it again later in the week and have another chance at the same loot.

*except RandomDude who was so happy to get the quiver he almost peed himself.

Holy Shyte, Really?!??!?! We 're still talking about loot rolling? Peter, Paul, and Mary, do whatever you want with your fudging loot who gives a shyte? If you pull it its yours. Keep it. Give it away. Shove it up your hole for all I care. You can let me roll on it or not. If you don't I might be pyssed but I promise I'll get over it and do you really give a **** if I'm pyssed? Well, you shouldn't. Cuz I don't and nobody else does either so shut up and loot and let loot. Holy Mary I swear to God you'll get another chance at that loot it's not like the **** doesn't drop every ficking day omg i can't believe people are still all bent about loot passing / rolling.

Oh and by the way all you pikers saying "yeah but I got you to that raid completion," well not necessarily. Just cuz you were there and in group doesn't mean you contributed jack shyte so get over yourself. I pike along with the best of them and have no illusions that I'm contributing jack when I know sometimes I'm not. So being in the group does not give me the right to roll on anything that that the owner doesn't want me to roll on. If they let me roll, HOORAY! If they don't, at least I got a chance to pull the loot myself but OH WELL I wasn't so lucky but maybe next time. Whatever.

And also if I pull something I can't use it goes for roll to the whole party 99% of the time but that's how I do it I have no right to impose that on anyone else.

Calm down and play the game. You'll get your loot eventually.

I don't like anybody in this game, those of you in my guild and those of you in other guilds. I pike, I loot, keeping the named items even if I don't need them, and then drag them out of my inventory and destroy them.

I'll simplify it for others: If it doesn't drop for you, assume it won't be up for roll. That covers every possible circumstance, and won't lead to disappointment. I'll give my loot to whoever I want to have it, by whatever priority I decide is most important. If you think otherwise, I'll let you know where to send the money to supplement what I pay to play the game.

LOL I just chose long ago not to get bent over loot. Yeah it sux when you don't get something you want but it makes sense that some folks will give it to guildies / friends first. But what's the big deal? It's not like they took something away from me - it was never mine to begin with.

It's hot where I live. It makes me grouchy. Plus I missed the Update 5 Cherry-Popping Extravaganzapaloozzarama. Plus sometimes I just like to go off cuz it's fun.

Not entirely. My guild does not favor ourselves over others in the party. We got tired of the "give to guildies first" a long time ago, especially when our people were making things possible for others. If one of us decides to put something up for roll, then EVERYONE gets to roll on it. Your loot is your own of course, should you decide to keep it. We've gotten may a positive feedback from non-guildies about our fairness rule.

EW follows this as well. got to keep it fair. only times loot dont go for roll is if a toon has made many many multiple runs with no luck for said item, then a guildie or friend will pass to who needs. hell, weve even gave many things to pugs, who just needed it more. but in the end, your loot is yours to do with what you see fit to do with it. its just universally accepted this way
