    Default Need easy-to-play build

I have played DDO off and on since it went free-to-play, but I would like to start playing this game more. Since I am not very familiar with the mechanics of character builds, I would like to ask what build would be effective as an all-in-one tank/heal/DPS character that is a very good for solo-play. I would really like only to make one character and focus on this character. I would basically like this character to be like the captain/warden classes from Lord of the Rings Online, if anyone is familiar with that game. Does anyone have any ideas?

Go with favored souls. If you don't have that go with clerics.

What about combining cleric with another class? What feats should I start with? What should my stats be, given a 28-point build?

I'm not good with multiclasses of the cleric kind except maybe cleric/monk. But, my suggestion to you is if you really want the most self-sufficient solo-able class/build then there is no better class that the 18/2 wiz/rog with maxed concentration, disable device, search, open lock and all the normal feats that 20 wiz takes with warforged and maxed int and rest into con and a little str.

What is hard is to mix "easy to play" with "does it all"

You can make self healing tank DPS characters but they are harder to build and play than single roll beat sticks.

Favored Soul is a good character for healing, casting and combat (although not tanking so much). But they are also kind of hard to build. Its impossible to make them really good at both casting and fighting, but you can find different mixes that work, but they take planning and game knowledge. I find them hard to build well unless I'm min-maxing for combat or casting. Then you get a character quite good at one, and incidentily decent at the other.

I actually think the old dwarven battle cleric is a better bet for a simple character.

One fighter level, and 19 cleric levels. 16 str 16 con 16 wis, and 10 In. Max out concentration and put the rest in getting jump and balance to as close to 10 ranks as you can manage.

I'd take fighter at level 1, toughness and weapon focus slashing. THen you go cleric taking mostly casting type feats, empower healing, extend spell, etc... and occasionally a combat feat or two (improved critical slashing and power attack) Enhancements go to combat and healing/SP equally.

You get a good fighter at low and mid levels, and a workable healing cleric at high levels. The only weakness is traps, they will eat you up if you run on hard or elite in quests with nasty traps.

Another good build is a human paladin with healing amplification. It works similarly but mostly is only good at healing itself and has a lot more long term DPS or tanking potential. Stats are very similar but less wisdom and more charisma and they are a bit more workable with 32pts.

Take cleric at level one, then fighter at level two, then back to cleric until 20th where you may or may not opt for a second level of fighter.

    Go dwarf, and stats are
    16 str
    8 dex
    16 con (with racial bonus)
    10 int
    16 wis
    6 cha

Skill points go into concentration (always keep it maxed) and balance.

Put all level up points into strength. Get the best +str, +con, and + wis items you can find. Take toughness at level one, and grab every enhancement that goes with it. Other enhancement points go towards axe +hit and dam, life magic, sp enhancers, saves enhancers, wand and scrolls, and of course con and wisdom enhancers.

Feats are toughness, extend spell, maximize, quicken, empower heal, improved crit (slashing), THF and more of the chain depending on the last level, and what they do with the feat after U5 etc.. You can opt to switch out extend as well later on..

This build is solid, can solo well into the later levels, can heal raids with no problems, and is fair enough at melee, tho you arent a DPS king.
