    Default The 1st Annual Doush-off

I've been wanting to start this for a long time, but now that griefing has
been elevated to a high artform, it's time for a little friendly competition.

    Rules:

    1. Your goal is to fail a raid, or an epic quest.

    2. You may not fail it by failing to heal.

    a. Winning is not failing to act, it's acting to fail. I.E. Simply not healing is illegal.

    3. You may not win by hiding an object. I.E. you cannot win by destroying the blood

    offering.

    4. At the end of July, the tally will be added. Claims of a win are to be reported here.

    5. This is an inter-guild Doush-off. Points are scored for a guild kill.

    6. There are no defensive points, only offensive. If your guild put the lfm up, it's fair

    game.

    7. Only guilds that list themselves in this thread are fair game.

    8. Guilds that list themselves in this thread may opt out of any quest by simply putting

    "Doush-free" in the lfm.

    9. Buy in is 20 mana pots.

ill be the first to say BoSS is fair game

Wanted to add and remove a few things.

After discussion with a few willing participants, I've made a few changes, namely the setup.
Participating events with now be offensive and defensive, in a scheduled fashion. 10 pots from
off. and 10 pots from def. FROM EACH RUN will be the stakes. Offense will consist of 4 players
from Offensive guild, I.E. the Doushes, and 8 from the defensive. Goal will be to fail the raid, or
complete while being the only the ones left alive.

Now for discussions of style. You cannot win by say dc'ing and causing lag heals and so forth.
Acceptable style is using any of your spells and abilities to prevent action from the offense,
killing the offense, or controlling the agro. I.E. If you are in TOD, you have to heal the tank
per usual, unless that tank is on offense with you. In titan for instance, you may not knock
pillars down willy nilly, but you may grease the bottom man, or dance the bottom man, or dance
the gunner, or agro the titan, or kite mobs, etc.

In any situation you must Act to fail, not fail to act. This is the primary rule.

Keep in mind of course, if you are on defense, you better f'ing bring your own healer, locksmith,
tank, and caster. I think the most difficult and intense competion would come from quests like
Hound, Vision, Shroud, while quests like TOD would simply prove tedious.

More thoughts more then welcome, this is basically the early stages of what could be a really
    fun Inter-Guild competition.

Acting to fail... like... putting one or two firewalls up at a time at the last vampire in Shadow Crypt instead of cooking the whole platform to prevent his regen (like the last 9 successful runs said firewaller had)? Or... suddenly forgetting how to cast spells at the end of VOD so the bats wipe the entire party? Or giving you specific directions for how to get back into VON6 when locked out of VON5 by everyone deciding to go ahead while you're at the shrine - the directions of which end up with your character bugged out and completely unable to group with anyone and you almost delete 3 months of work and a ton of raidloot because the GM is an idiot.

I agree with you that failing to heal is just a little too obvious. But when you're obviously trying REALLY hard and have the BEST intentions towards the person but it just doesn't work out... masterful griefing. Just masterful.

Pity this contest wasn't on at the time, they would have won. Amazing what "sudden incompetence" can do, or better yet "helpfulness" isn't it?
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

realizing that a lot of this is tongue in cheek, i'll clarify regardless:

you goal as offense, is to have the make up to defeat the break up

I'm sorry but the term dousch was tradmarked by Argonesson over a year ago and then promptly banned by Turbine not soon after.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this and saw your sig with character names was "oh so that's who kept bringing the beholders into the middle of that HoX today." But then I finished reading the terms and realized how the competition works. Should be interesting.

no, the caster kept bringing in mobs by putting crowd control on the outside, then running into the middle...no i was the last one alive my friend, me and the favored soul were raising eachother left and right until i got bee'd...i will admit, i had a blast in there though, you never truely know someone until sh*t hits the fan lmao

i dont grief, well, people i dont know anyway, and i fortunately didnt have to do anything for that travesty to break apart

So failing to act, like not healing, doesn't count. What about not doing the traps in VOD? Since I've forgotten about them the last three runs or so, I might as well see if I can score some points with my new technique

Of course, another fun idea is for the barbarian tanking Horoth to "forget" to put his boots on right about the time Sulu drops

So, like, main-tanking a raid then killing yourself halfway through is like a win?

freeman - if i knew the game was on, my first instinct would be to bring a rogue i know

tanking horoth then dieing is lame

now, "incapacitating" the cleric is another story

lets bring some class fellas, this could get creative

Tanking horoth where the clerics happen to be standing or behind where the party's taking on Suluu, now...
