Character surname change

It's stated "there is no way for your characters you mentioned to get their last names changed". well thats not true now is it, people get surnames changed reguarly if their in violation of TOS. usually they are asked what they want it changed to aswell.

Originally i played on the ddo europe servers where first and last name changes were done for free by gms within a matter of minutes, i know for a fact that changing a characters name takes less than 2 mins and is not a complicated procedure. In-game service refuse to change names because i assume they are told they are not allowed even though they are perfectly capable, they can't because the boss will tell them off.

Whoever deals with customer service can you please just lift this restriction, it dosn't take much of their time and being told there is "no way" to change a name is a little disheartening after playing this game for so many years and giving so much money to support your wages.

I won't comment on the joke that is $10 to change a first name.

Telling a customer no does not equal poor customer service.

On a serious side, does the surname really do much in game except add vanity to a toon?

I ask because, would this not be another opportunity for a plat-sink in game?
Have a Town Record Official that will sell you deeds for 10k plat or something to let you change your surname.

Could be a hoot to have everyone named the same last name for events, screenshots, nekkid shroud runs, etc
(yeah, could be a griefing tool too, but then again, so can a lot of things)

Simply edit out the name in Microsoft Paint using the Rubber Tool. Then re-upload the image, and change the link. Please, thanks!

As a former European Player, I can verify that European Codemasters GM's would change your first or second name for free, anytime of the day or night, if you asked them nicely. Which was very cool of them.

That being said, I do not think that name changes for personal reasons - I.E. I just dont like this name anymore and I want to change it - should be the work of the in game Game Masters, or something that the players should trouble them with. As one poster said, they have more important things to attend to.

However since the player has the right to choose their first and second name at character creation, and there is a Premium Service to change the first name, i can see absolutely no honest reason for not allowing the players to use the Premium Service to change the second name if they want to.

But it should be a Premium Service, because however it happens, it has to be done manually by a member of Turbine Staff, even if thats done in an office behind the scenes, and not by a Game Master with you in game. It takes Turbine employees time to do, and so they should be payed for it. In this respect, it is justified that name changes are a Premium Service.

But... I would very much like to see Surname / Last Names changes become part of thet Premium Service. And I cannot for the life of me understand why its not already.
