    Default Can't run on Vista.

    Every time I try to run the game the screen just goes black. I have to open the task manager to close the program. I have the game running as an administrator.

    a DXDIAG report would be a good start.

    I have Vista 64 and in my opinion it is not compatiible with Turbine software.

    I get constant "screen freeze" which goes blackscreen at the end of quests the peverbial "chest opening" or int he beginning of quests, and alway in the wayward lobster.

    I have tried every which way to figure out the problem and came to the conclusion that there is somethign in the vista program that causes this blackscreen or its Turbines software not able to deal with Vistas software. Either way, im saving up money jsut to go windows 7 since I have not heard about any similar bug.

    I've only had a bizarre problem once or twice in the years I've been playing DDO on Vista 64. There's nothing inherently wrong there, though obviously some things on your system aren't happy with each other. The possible causes for that are nearly limitless...

    I've run Vista 64 for quite some time with DDO. often multiple clients simultaneously. THere is no Inherant issue between DDO and Vista 64.

    Also seconded. Technical support often requires technical information. RAM? CPU? GPU? Drivers?

    Default The fix that worked for me

    I had the same annoying issue with a black screen loading every time I tried to launch the game and I had to ctrl alt del, select task manager blah blah. The way Turbine fixed my issue was they had me go through and uninstall any 'OpenAL' or 'Host ADI (OpenAL)' that appeared in my program list. Then I had to go to windows/system32 and rename 'wrap_oal.dll' to 'oldwrap_oal.dll' and also rename 'openal32.dll' to 'oldopenal32.dll'. Now just so you know, in my case I did not have to rename either of those two files as I did not have them, but they told me to do that if either file was present in system32. You will probably be fine just doing the uninstall of said apps at the top. Ever since then the game has worked perfectly for me.

    The steps to post a dxdiag report are in the "how to get help" sticky linked in my sig, definitely also put in a tech support request if you haven't yet as well.

    @Mirth

    Remember, Black = a file went wrong, Blue = a script went wrong..

    For some reason, it always happens like that :\
