    Default Suggestions for Renown

    While taking part in the current competition for the guilds on Lamannia, a couple of ideas came up.


    1) I love that the tokens drop in the chests--ALL chests, even the ones you might normally skip....makes doing optionals kinda fun for more than xp.

    2) I like that the amountof renown you get for kills is random..sometimes 5 sometimes15...kinda like sometimes you get prayer beads sometimes you get an icon of kyhber.

    3) I think there should be some kind of award for disabling traps....I mean, these are supposed to be "heroic deeds" or "tales of valor"---I would be dang impressed with a rogue who gets all the traps in a quest. I know I'm proud of my rogues when they can easily find and disable most anything (I exclude the trap in Cabal....that trap actually made me retire Riasha for over a year...I still boycott it on principle)

    4) While I want the higher levels of renown to actually take some effort...Im not sure that essentially doubling the amount required each level is the right progression.....1.2 million for level 13 seems pretty excessive. I would propose a progression more like what we have for levels...each level is 10K more than the one previous....that mounts up at level 20.....for the renown, maybe each level costs 500 or a 1000 more than the one before....will still be fast at lower levels but at really high levels would add up.

    My overall impression: I still have some concerns about the rewards, perks etc ultimately dividing the population into "guilded" and "not" even more than it currently is, but the devs who worked on this deserve a round of applause. I was having a ton of fun with it, and can't wait for it to go live.....I'm an altaholic, so I run the low stuff tons of times....at least this way Im getting some tangible reward except xp for waterworks run 2 million.

    nah, this would only end up in a flame again.

    why do clerics/fvs don't get for hp healed
    why do wiz/sorc don't get for hp burned
    why do xxx not get for yyy

    after all this game is about killing. traps can be skipped. killing can't be.

    i agree ... most of the renown system makes alot of sense and some doesnt at all ..

    doubling the renown per level is excessive because the renown you get from higher levels doesn't double and the drop rates actually decrease ..

    since bags and chests per second has to be calculated when figuring out renown at level its comical that in gianthold slayers 50 renown bags drop fairly frequently (about 1 in 10-15) in vale an area that is suppost to be higher the slayers drop 50 renown bags not as frequenly ( about 1 in 20) and in amarath 50 renown bags drop rarely (in the small loot run i do we get about 50 slayers and maybe 1 bag)

    but the difference between gianthold and amarath is almost 5 levels or more ...

    if renown is suppost to increase based on difficulty you figure gianthold at 50 would mean 75 in vale and 100 in amarath .....

    the 150-500 in epic is great but because of the timer on epic quests it kind of removes the will to complete epic quests ... token shards drop outside of chest ... renown drops outside of chests ... just completing for seals and shards ... which are rare and really often not worth it ...

    so for renown it seems like they are encouraging people to play epic rather then regular missions ...

    i would suggest having renown increase with character level ... so the same bag drops renown for everyone but the higher level you are and the higher level the mission is (just like xp if you out level the mission by too much you should get little to no renown for it cept maybe on elite to help people favor hunting)

    this way even though exp doesnt increase for under leveling missions anymore ... you will get more renown cause you increase your challenge rating ...

    I think renown is still a work in progress though i expect many things about the system to change by update 8 or so ... by then the whole system could be unrecognizable ..

    Until renown is completely removed from any and all loot mechanics, I for one will not be participating in this feature.

    It is such a waste that this great aspect of the game is finally here and we are left with looting chests and picking up random treasure bags from monsters to increase our guild status.

    Accomplishments, not luck should determine a guild's renown.

    Well like it or not, if you belong to a guild and play, you will be getting renown since it no longer requires you to "pick up body bags" toi get it. When a kill is made that is worth renown points, everyone in the group gets points.

    As for renown in chests and end rewards. In chests it is just another item and as soon as you take it, you get points and there is nothing to track. It is only on end rewards that you have to make a choice of the reward.

    Thanks for the reminder, I did read that the treasure bag thing was removed. Still, are the renown tokens present in every chest and every end reward or is there still a random chance that they will not be there?

    It just still seems wrong to me that you have to loot renown and not earn it so to speak.

    I would like to see guaranteed renown for all optionals. Let's provide some incentive beyond a smattering of xp.

    I would like to see 100% likelihood of a trophy even if it is a small one on a quest completion.

    Actually, this attitude is EXACTLY why I would like to see some acknowledgement to the traps bing disabled. Since death doesnt really matter much to most people in the game, actually getting something everyone would benefit from might make people more likely to value rogues for something other than damage....I doubt it, but its a chance.


    And it has been a longtstanding compliant that clerics/fvs get no love for healing....I guess that at least if noone dies, which MIGHT be realted to healing, you get more xp.

    I completely agree. As well I think the chance of a better "trophy" should go up with the diffiiculty ....1st time on any level should guarantee a trophy...the 1st time should always be memorable
