I personally, would love to see a guild mail option, but even more I would like to see more ranks, and a spot to add notes. It's so hard keeping track of who's who when u have lots of alts, and other types of toons in your guild! When I prune for long time inactives, I don't want to have to boot someones alt just cuz I dont recognize the toons name.

    Ranks and notes!!!!!

    Overall, great post Geoff.

I do have concern over renown earning and decay. I will explain why...

I've been in three guilds in the four years I've played. A small one that moved to LOTRO, a large one that died and now a small one again. By small i mean 8 people total. Right now two of those people are away for the summer. That leaves 6 players. We all have jobs and play a couple hours each, probably about 5 nights a week.

My guild (the one I belong to, as I'm not the leader) will never be level 80 or have that much stuff in the airship. That's okay. I do worry however that we won't even make it to getting, let alone maintaining, enough guild level and renown to hold down a full set of +2 stat buffs (or caster buffs or... you get the idea.) Yes, I do believe that the buffs provided on the ships are significant enough to affect gameplay and grouping.

Sure I could switch guilds. I have a standing invite to one of the largest and, in my opinion, best guilds on my server. I run with them almost every time I'm on. My little guild and theirs are good friends. But! My little guild are my friends.

Anyway... it seems to me that level 26 is pretty low to start decay, unless maybe your suggestion of permanant ammenities is made available. We could work really hard on it. Maybe even get a few other guilded friends to join and help for a while and build our ship and then we could just plug along like always.

I think that most of the angst regarding the new system involves people who are worried that they will have to make changes to their guild because of the new guild features*. Specifically, to accomodate the renown calculation.

    * Or feel like they should, even if they choose not to, or that they are going to be left out of the new features if they don't.

I share these concerns, although again I want to point out that most of my feedback is not directly related to renown.

For renown specifically: I do have feedback and I've provided it. But - and this is a big BUT - Turbine has been very involved in the Lamannia testing. Moreso than is common. I trust them to have our best interests on this, and I believe that they will aggressively monitor the renown system and make adjustments where needed.

I doubt they will get it exactly right the first time; for that matter, I doubt I could either even if I had omnipotent guild renown powers. I am confident that they will protect the team nature of the game.

That's generous of you. I'm glad you liked that one. It's just fun yeah?

+1 for the compliment and for taking the time to glance over it.

Nothing to add, just wanted to say great posts! I think ultimately Turbine wants us to get airships and start buying things for them in the DDO Store, so I suspect things like decay and leveling will be filtered through that desire. Which is fine with me. I just wish we could name our airships, maybe put a figure on the forward side of the hull or something.
