    Default Wayward Lobster

I was wondering why the PVP area in the Wayward Lobster is full of minimum lvl 16 characters. Is it just because they are to lazy to walk somewhere else (you know outside of a starting area), or is it because the level 16 players have so little content they have nothing to do, or is it prehaps that they get off on kicking the arse of level 4 characters?

Seriously, im interested in the logic.

The lobster has always been the pit of choice.

I know its a waste of time. Which is why up until now i've never felt the need to give it a shot. But as i'm reviewing the game (for my "Good, the Bad & Ugly: Geek Review" page, i felt the need to experience it first hand). So i tried to experience it in the Wayward Lobster, because its the first PVP zone lower level players can access. So i was suprised to see that its flooded with capped & near capped player characters.

Now, i've spread that section of my review research over the last two days & i discovered something very strange. On Argo, there is at least one character who is in the PVP night & day (i periodically logged in and out). Some say he is a sniper, who sniperz from the dark, but i say he is a person who sniperz level 3 pc's for fun.

This particular "griefer" (i believe thats the right term) stands at the back far corner of the PVP area & basically one shot kills anyone who is in the PVP fighting someone else. He also takes great joy in snipering people who are minimum 10 levels below him; going out of his way to kill them over and over again (especially when they are fighting someone else, or trying to leave the PVP area).

Now i've never experienced PVP before because as has been stated its a waste of time, but is this generally how PVP is meant to go? or is this some wierd definition of Lawful Good that i am unaware of?

Wow just wow. Ive been in the lobster many many times. And yes its exactly as you say but PvP is nothing more than time killer or socializing in this game. Ans far as your "sniper int he corner 1 shot killing" Log into EvE and as a new player wander into a low sec system like Sey its nothing for 4year+ players getting in groups of 10 or more to kill one lil noob. PvP in this game has no cost, no damage to equipment, the person who kills you cant loot you so theres no reason to get upset about capped toons killing lvl 3's.

Not so much upset... i'm just a little quizzical about the logic behind it. As i want my review to be as accurate as possible (maybe help some noobs decide they want to try DDO).

So basically what your saying is that its a giant ****ing contest? Its all about whipping out to see who has the bigger BAB? Nice to know, i'll add to my review that PVP isn't worth anything in DDO (that seems to be the general feeling).

Now i just need to try the more focused version of PVP Capture the Flag & Death Match & the section will be complete. If anyone has any words of wisdom, please feel free to impart them.

Seriously the PvP here is not a ****ing contest its just something to do to when you want a break from quests. If it really was about bragging rights there would be some kind of points system like other games, or "killmails" like we get in eve so we can post them on our killboards. It just really isn't a huge part of DDO. Hell I think the Airships and the guildratings will be more competitive than the PvP.

You are of course right. But as part of my research i've looked through the PVP threads & i've seen a sub-set of players wanting a kill board, but it seems to be loudly oppossed by by the majority.

Any tips for Capture the Flag?

Nope, most of us never bothered with it.

As for your review, I think you are going to find a lot of fustration. Nice that you are being through, most reviews are not very. But on this aspect I'd say something on the lines of PvP being fustrating, useless and not really part of the game. Adding, seems to be for the vets trying out new spells, a time sink and/or refugees from a certain game trying to get their e-peen on.

For someone purportedly writing a game review, it sounds as though you have never in your on-line life engaged in any PvP game. Ever.

Play to Crush fits as the internet gaming motto for PvP - DDO is no different, albeit they added a feature so alien to the source material to appeal to a niche market, well, you see the result.
Why you would possibly think the PvP and PvPers here would be any different from anywhere else boggles me only somewhat less than the need you generated to post about it.
In some strangely accusational tone, no less.

Please link your final review. I just gotta read me some of that.

PVP is a waste of time for people whose sole purpose in this game is to be the most uber anyhow...

PVP is pretty fun when higher lv dont attack you but if it does attack, that sucks/
Maybe put the PVP more balanced.

It's not agains the rules to attack lower levels. As long as you are not harrassing them by holding them, pws, dance, fts and leaving them there ect... you are perfectly fine. When someone enters the brawling area, whether they are a lvl 1 or lvl 20, they are out there to kill and be killed; in other words everyone in the PvP pit is fair game.

If the lower level players get too ticked they can either
    A) Set up a privet death match/CTF
    or
    B) Gather their friends and go to a different tavern, there are many out there.
