    Default A Drow/32-pt Build/Favor Question

As a relatively new F2P player, I've done a little research and read up a bit on the favor rewards the unlock the Drow race, and the 32-point builds. My question is twofold:

    1. How long does it generally take (e.g. playing time, character level) to reach the 400 total favor required to unlock the Drow race, and the 1750 total favor required to unlock the 32-point builds?

    2. Once the Drow race is unlocked, is it worthwhile to re-roll a "32-point" Drow character, or should I simply continue building favor with my original 28-point non-Drow character until I unlock the 32-point build feature for all races?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers.

    1) It depends on whether you're doing a favor dash or actually working a character. I think it took me two monthe, favor run folks can probably get in under a week. I've been playing since October '09, just got 1200 favor on my main last night. Other people probably get it in a month.

    2) Again,it depends - if you've just been running throwaway 100 favor toons, most likely - especially if you play a class that Drow fit well. I'm still playing my 28 pointer toon, though I'll probably get hime a Greater reincarnation +3 in the next few weeks to switch to 32 point builds.

Drow count as 32-pt characters because of their extra stat bonuses (+2 INT, +2 CHA). You don't get moar better drow for also unlocking 32-pt builds.

Both. Drow make spectacular certain characters, but many can actually be inferior to a 28 point build of an other race due to the pre-spent points (Drow Barb vs Dwarf 28 point Barb is an example.) Drow are notoriously squishy as all balls if HP are not focused on with a vengeance. They do, though, make spectacular paladins. The answer comes down to what you want your next character to be. A drow might be superior, it might not.

Also note that when you get 32 point builds themselves, drow don't get upgraded, and the 32 points are in almost all situations superior, aside from a DC focused caster or an assassin rogue.

Tough to answer because your ability to get favor depends on the character you build, guild you might join, and how well you solo. Maybe more even.

As an example, my first char was a 28pt two-handed fighting paladin. Cheap to equip him but it took some time to get over 400 favor doing things mostly solo. I then created a typical two-weapon fighting Drow and got to 1000 favor in about the same time. The difference was I knew all of the quests that I needed to do, spent a lot more time grouping than solo, and had some good hand-me-down items. I don't know if I will make it to the 1750 favor mark though, so the 32 pt builds are something I will likely buy in time.

I do like having the veteran status at 1000 favor because you can try out alt builds more efficiently. To get to the 400 favor mark I would suggest starting a melee character who can survive (CON) and kill (STR) well. If you like Rogues or Clerics though, those classes seem to be in demand for many groups and may allow you to get favor faster.
