You can always buy your own lightsaber for $200.

Warning: Extremely dangerous is an understatement to 1W of laser power. At close range, this Class 4 beam will cause immediate and irreversable retinal damage. Use with extreme caution and use only when wearing proper safety goggles with an O.D. of 3+ is required and 4.4+ for longer exposures. Customers will be required to completely read and agree to our Class 4 Laser Hazard Acknowledgment Form..

*Supplies are extremely limited as voluntary and regulatory restrictions increase the difficulty to purchase Class IV portable lasers.

Also keep in mind this game is still a year away from release.

A lot of the in-game video footage out there is still from alpha / early beta phase (it's just in beta testing now), yet still looks far more polished than a lot of other games out there (including some that were released 4 years ago.. *cough*).

We'll see how it pans out, though. But I'd wager Bioware will do a pretty good job.
Not a perfect job, by any means, as nobody can live up to the fantasies of hundreds of thousands of Star Wars geeks everywhere, but it will certainly be decent. Bioware created Knights of the Old Republic, after all, which was a shining beacon amongst a **** storm of bad Star Wars video games. So there's definitely hope.

I still agree with the Fark headline for this video.

"BioWare, makers of Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, and Knights of the Old Republic, releases the first trailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. These 6 minutes are so much better than any of the prequels it's not even funny"

hahaha, yeah it does, but that was Kevin Richardson. I doubt Turbine could afford him anymore!! lol Though he may feel he owes something to Bioware, so the starwars video seems likely.

    What were they thinking!?!?

Here's a blue laser/pointer that's shaped like a lightsaber. Even if you "have to read/agree to their forms recognizing the dangers of a class 4 laser it screams "I'm something you can play Jedi with!" And, if you ever have a party, you have to worry about some drunk idiot grabbing it and injuring your guests. They might send you the 'laser shades' for you to wear when you use... let's be honest ...play with it. But, what about those around you.

I run a laser table all day at work. Even with the laser mounted to a sled and pointed at the table itself for cutting I and anyone that walks in the room still has to be wary of bounce back off of the table. It takes milliseconds for the beam to damage your retina, even at 1w. Even if your not pointing it into someone's eyes you can still do some serious damage from the beam just bouncing off surfaces, even if it's diffused.

This thing is just insane. Why would anyone actually market it?
