I usually skip posts that have atrocious spelling or layout. It saves me time and if enough people do it those people will never have a voice unless they adapt.

I teach freshman composition and a few other related courses, and I don't know how many essays I've handed back with comments on what I call a kids 'text-speak' in typed form. It drives me crazy.

On any forum or online mode of communication, I try to be more relaxed. I still cringe when I see a wall of text full of comma splices and sentence fragments. I get a twitch in my left eye when I see people mixing up there, their and they're or were and we're. (It's a contraction, people. We are = we're. Sheesh.) But I do my best to ignore it.

Now if they were sitting in my classroom....muwhahaha!

I know the feeling. I taught a Junior Year Writing course in my political science department, and these problems still plague third-year undergrads, not just freshmen. Makes me wish I could hit people with rulers.
