At level 7 monks get Wholeness of Body, which is a meditation that lasts for 30 seconds and heals your for an amount per tick based on your wisdom. Any healing amp you have will also increase this. That's probably the only self healing a dark monk gets besides pots or UMD scrolls/wands.

If you are a halfling you can also take the dragonmarks for cure light wounds, cure serious wounds, and heal.

Hi Quijonsith. My friend and I play a static 2-man group, where I play a human light path monk and she plays a halfling dark path monk. Basically, she kills everything while I tank and heal. If you're planning on soloing frequently, a light path monk is the way to go due to the increased healing. There are a few ways a light path monk heals:

    a) Fists of Light. It's one of your basic ki strikes, except only available to a monk that takes the Path of Harmonious Balance/light path feat when the time comes (rather than the Path of Inevitable Dominion/dark path). It costs 10 ki per strike, with a cooldown of 3 seconds. If your strike hits the enemy, a white healing symbol appears above their head, which is a "curse of healing" or whatever the game calls it. Whenever someone attacks something affected by the curse of healing, said attacker gains a tiny bit of healing, like 1-2 HP per hit. However, the greater the attacker's healing amplification is, the greater the HP regained from attacking an enemy affected by the curse of healing becomes. Currently, my level 13 monk has about 65% healing amp, and he gets 3 HP healed per hit.

    b) Light:light:light finisher. After a light path monk uses 3 fists of light ki strikes in a row (without interrupting the chain with other actions), they can use the light:light:light finisher, which costs 10 ki. It's a very close-ranged AOE heal that heals 1d4 per monk level and hits everyone in your party that is also in range. It won't hit/damage surrounding undead or anything like that.

    c) Wholeness of Body. At level 7, all monks, regardless of path, get a feat called Wholeness of Body. It has a long cooldown, like 180 seconds or so and costs 10 ki per use. Whereas the Meditation feat only has two per rest, Wholeness of Body has infinite uses so long as you have the ki to spend. It lasts for 30 seconds, and heals every 2 seconds, so you get 15 ticks of healing. It heals 1/2 your monk level + your wisdom modifier, and I believe your healing amplification also affects the amount it heals. It's a good idea to switch into Ocean Stance before you use wholeness of body in order to boost your wisdom, which in turn boosts your wholeness healing rate.

We're not experienced DDO players or anything, but our monks are our third characters. Our first two parties were a cleric/rogue and a paladin/bard. Our monks survive so much easier (due to the light path monk healing and wholeness of body) than our other characters, we dubbed it "cheating." :P

In regards to boosting wholeness of body: If you have the jidz-tet'ka bracers from the sentinels adventure pack (house deneith quest chain) switching to fire stance for the extra 25% healing amp actually gives you more per tick from wholeness of body than ocean stance's increased wisdom. If you don't have those bracers though, definitely switch to ocean stance before using wholeness of body.
