    Default Multiclassing ideas

Hi, im a bit of a noob still but have been playing around with various multiclasses to try and learn.

The char I want to build is purely support. Mass buffs and heals. What would be best for this.

    I was thinking Cleric/Wizard.

Is this a viable idea or am I going to be screwing my self up long term.

    Any help or advice welcome.

Well the name you was looking for is...bard. Wizard buffs +heals. And higer caster level, so both of those will b more effective.

Cleric/Wizard is not viable. The other poster was right try a bard or a WF wizard/Sorc.

So pure bard ? no multiclass? I had a brief look at the bard but it didnt seem to fit the mass buff benefits of wizard or the heal power of a cleric.

Bard songs are some of the best buffs you can get. Plus you have haste, gh, fom, dance balls and cure spells. What else can you possibly need??

Correct, but a Wizard/Cleric won't have the heals or the buffs of a true bard. It's generally a bad idea to multiclass spells casters with other spell caster. Their primary ability scores don't sych and you become a gimp cleric and a gimp wizard.

Arcane / divine multiclassed builds are usually not a good idea because you wind up being half-@$$ed at both. I could see splashing wizard on a cleric for the free metamagic and arcane wand usage (cleric capstone is blah, so you're not gimping yourself much by missing out on it IMHO), but that's about it.

Bards have a nice mix of arcane (e.g., Blur, Displacement, Haste) and divine (mostly Cure) spells, with extra buffing & CC from their songs and UMD as a class skill. Downsides are they don't get any DPS spells (EDIT: except for Sound Burst & Shout, but they're pretty low DPS), they miss out on some of the best buffs like Stoneskin (though they can eventually UMD scrolls & wands to make up for it), and they have relatively small mana pools. They're a fun hybrid class, but they wouldn't be my first pick for a pure caster focus.

If you're a new player and want a pure buffer / healer, your best bet is a cleric, maybe with a fighter splash for an extra feat & martial weapons and/or the aforementioned wizard splash. Take a look at tihocan's Warpriest and Font of Healing builds for ideas.
