Actually the book wasn't that bad, there were parts that I really enjoyed.

Unfortunately there were lots of parts that had a "forced" quality to them. Trying to advance the Forgotten Relms into the 4E timeline (horrible mistake IMO) made the story into something less than what it could have or should have been.

I compare the book to the Lost finale just because for the first 90% of it it was entertaining, and while not up to the usual standards I have become accustomed to it was still worthwhile. The very ending of both the Ghost King and Lost made me wonder if the writers lost a bet or took some really bad drugs.

Oh and Cadderly too. Yes the last book is THAT bad. Like I said, it's Conan Doyle Syndrome. Or R.A.'s attempts to avoid it.

Conan Doyle Syndrome? NEVER kill off a beloved by the public to the point of Icon character. You are only going to bring them back or get the mobs with torches and pickforks at your front door...

I don't mind that Cadderly died, or that he killed off Regis or Cattie-Brie. I just really didn't like how everyone seemed to lose their minds over C.B. but really didn't give a soggy kobold horn about Regis. The last few pages about their "afterlife" made me shake my head and roll my eyes in how stupid it was.

NOTE: I have never seen Lost...Just got tired of public throughfares being shut down for that series...and airports...and parks...

Never really thought about that, really excellent show, really stupid ending. It was who shot JR being a dream stupid.
