    Default Cleric or Favored Soul

Seriously, which one is better? I have a level 20 cleric with 28pt build, not the best, but she does alright. I have a +3 Greater Heart of wood to use and want the best class for the money. I love playing a cleric and I have Lorriks DT armor and the pendent, still need the sheild. Is it worth it to stay cleric or should I go on and be a healing FvS?
    Thanks for the input!

If you're comfortable with what you're doing and just want to be able to do more of that, go Favored Soul.

If you want to experiment more, try different variants and combinations, Cleric is the safer bet.

This is how I'd decide between the two.

Low-end player skill + gear, FvS
Higher-end player kill + gear, still FvS (although it is less pronounced).

There really isn't enough difference to put any effort into changing now.

This statement could not be farther from the truth.

He wants to be a healer. How is a Cleric better?

Yeah, less spell slots, that'll make you a better healer! Go go FvS! lmao

This statement would make sense if there were more use full spells for devine casters.

FvS > clerics in 95% of situations.

Have you played a Cleric or Favored Soul before?

One thing to keep in mind is that the spells that YOU like the best might not be the "best" spells, but they'll still be your favorite spells and they'll be the spells that you want on your FvS.

Unless you mess with ALL the spells, though, you won't really know what your favorite spells are. Clerics can bop their spell selections around eight ways to Sunday and never have to make up their mind.

I like Favored Soul much better than Cleric, but that wouldn't be true if I hadn't played a Cleric first. I'll freely admit that I have taken neither of them to cap, but I've had a lot more fun leveling my FvS to 8 than I had leveling my Cleric through those levels. And I expect that leveling each of them will be more fun at higher levels just like my experience with Arcane casters has been.

Edit: I realize that this is not an answer to the OP's question. I still wanted to post this for all the folks who are new to Divine casters.

    Radiant Servant?

Also they can/should do more than simply heal.

I agree here. Cleric for testing spells/playstyle. FvS for doing what your cleric did only better and more of it.

Please explain what you mean by "Also they can/should do more than simply heal.", then explain why a cleric can do these things and a FvS can't?

    DV

    Turn undead

    Radient servant

    Devine interevention.

Did I miss anything that clerics have access to and FvS do not?

These things are marginally use full at best.

In the end, it's all about flavor. When I see a favored soul in the party, I come to expect the same things over and over again, they don't really stray from the base much.

Clerics, however, come in flavors, that's for sure. Some clerics stop at level 11, take 6 levels of ranger, 3 levels of monk. Some go pure cleric. Some only get as far as Divine Power. I can't say it's always a good thing, but Clerics definitely have the "wildcard" flavor to them, sometimes you get something completely unexpected and you like it.

Untrue! I see plenty of FvS who do different things. Some even swing a Great sword and are warforged! Some take 2 levels of monk for AC and evasion, i'v seen some with rog levels and they can do traps, heck I'v even seen Pure FVS. I have also seen all these things in cleric builds aswell.

Favoured Souls are simply more powerful than Clerics. I don't think the new PrE will change anything.

Clerics, however, are still great if you want to play and experiment with all spells.

I love clerics. THe new PrE is gunna make mine better. So what if FvS is the uber class? It really comes down to flexiblity/walking shrine/PrE/offensive caster to healer/offensive caster.

Whatever you want. I am sticking to clerics, even though I have one melee and one offensive caster FvS, I don't see me rolling anymore.

    Good summation.
