THIS is all we want. Maybe we'll even give up some TP points to be able to do this. PLEASE, devs. Let us change the look of armor, whether it be multiple copies of unique items or just plain old armor dye. I just looked over Lorrik's Defender for my barbarian, and I can't afford NOT to have a DT breastplate now. PLEASE. DON'T. MAKE. ME. WEAR. TEAL.
DT Breastplate isnt Teal![]()

Other MMO's have this option, and Turbine has done headgear already.
Phew, that's a relief. Would still appreciate being able to wear a black dragontouched breastplate with red trimmings. Or black with gold trimmings? Or silver trimmings?
Argh! I cannot decide! I hope they'd let us preview armor dye before applying it.

I love this thread. I would much prefer wearing great robes to armor but think I'd get myself killed if battling in robes. It may be silly to want my toon to look good but shucks, if I get to be young, strong, agile and full of adventure, can't I be pretty too? Sure would like to pick my own face to go along with my great body! Then have a wardrobe of great things to wear in lots of colors. I need more closet space now but if I could choose my look I'd need a lot more. Also hate helmets they hide my pretty hair. Couldn't a tiara provide just as much protection? Lorendri and Theodendri
I am so tired of going through the AH in search of a robe that looks kool(not hot pink with gold) and has the bonuses I need and you know what I gave some of those bonuses up (actually in hind sight A LOT) to make my toon look the way he should he is necromancer and eventually got stuck wearing those pink robes "fear my undead minions!" and the pink robe ruins thatallow us to dye it! and maybe even change shoulders or add bits from other robes like texture or symbols! BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY color!
/signed as much as can!
Amen, I agree completely.
Signed and sealed in a puce evelope with violet trim.
"if you going to fight ...CLASH!"
but seriously, if the developers arent listening here then they be deaf. I have a cahracter at 9th level now, but now i know we are all going to look the same i feel less inclined to logg on tonight!
/concur.This would be AWESOME.
I want my drow necromancer to be a grim, even ominous figure in black and red robes...not some poof nancing around in green and purple. >_<
The DDO Developers have shown that they do listen to our feedback, suggestions and ideas. And I am 99% certain that a Dev has read this thread, or is at least aware of it, and aware of the issue it is raising. But for whatever reason the DDO Devs have decided not to comment on this topic as yet, for whatever reason.
One possible reason the Devs have not commented is because they may already be in the process of developing some kind of cosmetic appearance changes for armour and equipment, and so dont feel the need to comment. I hope so anyways.
The Devs work in mysterious ways.
Nah dont feel that way. DDO is an awsome game, and the appearance problems I have outlined in this thread are the very worst examples. Most of the time, its not really as bad, well not really anyways. At high level there are a LOT of different armour skins, and characters do look different. Well... a lot of them look the same too. But a lot look different.
My main gripe is the players inability to actually choose the appearance of armour and equipment. For example, A level 20 fighter can choose from lots of different Armours - Dragontouched, Epic Vambrances of Light, Stonemeld Plate, Full Plate of The Defender, Argentis Armour etc etc... - and these all have different appearances. We can choose which armour to wear to suit our abilities, the problem is we cant tailor its appearance to suit OUR vision of our characters.

The coolest armor in the game for my character is the Drow Hunter's Armor. I'd love to have my Halfling Assassin running around in this stuff. The detail is awesome. I've got my rope with grappling hook, my bottle of poison, my backpack of tricks. The detail put into this is great. I wear it for maybe 2 levels right now simply because for all it's looks, the stats suck. Someone spent time on this, let me show it off for them.

Agree completely!
I've only been playing for about two months and only noticed quite recently that there are different looks for armor of the same type and stats when I put on a set of full plate and thought, "Ugh! That's not nice at all!" and switched it for another when it got damaged. Alas, the replacement was only marginally better-looking. *sigh* Fortunately I picked up one more as a quest reward and ended up quite happy with the result.
I wondered from the very beginning why there wasn't a dye armor option. It came as a surprise to me that the only dyes available in the store were for hair.
Just went over the Update 7 list......no sign of armor dyes, but they've managed to clear so much off their plate that they just might be able to squeeze them in Update 8.
Well written OP!! +1

I agree, and I think this thread is a pretty good example of how to complain about something in the game that has fallen short of player expectations without using self entitlement, ranting, dev flaming, or piling up infractions over disagreements....
Now if the Devs would just pop their heads in and say something to acknowledge that this way of complaining about a missing feature will get their attention/feedback and maybe some acknowledgment of action or future plans, so they can maybe dispel the pervading sentiment that you have to rant to get them to respond...

really, my WF toons have the bad habit to loot ONLY pink docents. Not to mention the Quorforged Docent of Battle :P
really nice ideas here, we should be able to choose our appearence, and i'm sure many would even spend TP on it
So, we want it for our (mostly graphic) game experience. Turbine should want this for $profit$
So, hope this will come to light soon![]()
+1 rep for greatly illustrating how poor this game is when it comes to character diversity. I love the game and have played since release, yet after 4 years there is still no cure for this. High level parties keep looking dull.
